Hi and welcome :cheer: Have you grown it that long before? I hope you can reach your goal, that sounds awesome :D

Hmm, I think the weight won't be an issue if you vary the place where you clip it? I haven't found the weight a problem yet. It might be one when I have more hair though!
Re. the armpit length issue, that's so frustrating! I'm sorry you're having that problem.

Still growing strong. My hair is discovering it's wave pattern, so it "turned shorter" after last time i took a length pic.. Or did it?.... It's been half a month. I think it might have grown very slightly, judging from my natural hair traveling down a bit....?

Cross posting from another thread to show off my "new texture" which i am super happy about.

I’m so envious of your hair texture !!!
I would rather loose length and have that texture naturally
You have such beautiful hair you really do :)
You can see it’s growing for definite !

Thank you so much. :o
I wonder if my waves are like that because of the layers. If so, i think i'll keep them (layers) around, only maybe won't cut them in to This extent. I'd say shortest ones being at APL or so would be good. :)

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I've been here forever too, but I've cut out all my layers and all but a couple of inches of dye. I've made so much progress and also none at all :(
I'm nearly there, I think another couple of months. I feel like I've said all the same things so many times.

I know that feeling all too well. Think I am going to maintain at BSL rather than APL so it feels long while I wait. I'm waiting for a fringe, layers and some dye to come out and see what my texture is like. Going to feel like an eternity.

That's a good idea. It'll feel like progress.

It may feel it takes too long, but at least I am in good company.
We'll all get there.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I was going to maintain at APL
But I think I’ll also change that to BSL as I’ve been here forever

I kinda feel the same now. I thought of maintaining at shoulder, but nah, i'll just get a small trim in summer and then keep growing till winter. :)
I ordered a hair stick from etsy for May, to keep myself motivated to grow longer ^^

My original plan is to start microtrimming when i hit APL. I can get rid of layers and dye and still growing longer. From APL to BSL is not a big distance so I can see progress there. If I start to microtrimming at BSL i will never reach waist. Long torso, yieks. I want a nice thick hemline when i reach BSL to go straight to waist without trims. :)
But i am still far from APL, perharps i will change my mind when i am there. I am going to make a small .5" trim in July, than go to APL. (I will be there around november if my growth rate not speed up in the summer.
I will make a length shot around the end of this month. I decided in march that i am not doing monthly length pictures because i felt my hair growth zero from february to march, but now i see that my hair is longer. I can make a half pulled through pony what is not exploding in seconds, so my hair is definitly longer. I cant wait now to make a pic, hahaha! I found the perfect t shirt for it! :)

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Sorry for totally disappearing again, LHC is hard to navigate on mobile and I am not often near my computer so I’ve jut been hanging out on instagram instead lately. To ?_fred, who asked if I was following a set list for my 30 days of hairstyles challenge, nope! Instead I wake up every morning and have a little panic about what style I’m going to wear that day and then I scroll through instagram and my saved styles (I have a collection titled “hairstyles to try”) and just wing it. LOL
I am loving not doing monthly length photos. I just don’t have the time right now, and I lost my measuring tape again, so I can’t be bothered to measure. And if I don’t measure.or take length/hemline photos then it doesn’t bother me that my hem is uneven. I don’t know if I’m going to bother getting a 6-month trim in June or if I’ll just go until it feels necessary, or my bleached tips drive me insane, or something. I did the towel test this morning and I can’t decide if the distance between my hem and the towel looks like miles or if I’m feeling optimistic about reaching it within the year. I don’t know how to describe it but I feel like this is such an alien length to me. Last time my hair was this length I don’t remember it being any longer, until one day it was bsl and not shoulder. It really feels like an abyss to me.

Yep, that was me who asked about the challenge. Sounds like fun, even with the morning minor-panic! [ETA - I totally need to get on Instagram and make a hair tutorial/hair style inspiration reference. It's not easy working out what to wear each morning, and not fall into the trap of 'what I do every day'.]
Re. the abyss - I feel you there. It just feels like forever, and then suddenly it's long. I'm hoping to stave off that feeling this time around by being aware of body markers, and keeping a photo diary etc., but it does feel like getting to APL takes a ridiculously long time.
On an aside, I remember the last time I purposefully grew out my hair, when I was in my late teens I think, I'd been thinking of it as short, but then I kept catching my reflection in shop windows and it was way longer than I thought. It really hit home when I went into a library to ask something, and the assistant referred to me as 'the lady with the long hair'. It was a good feeling that! I don't have any photos from back then, so I don't know how long it really was, but I remember being impressed that it had got long!

Oh yeah I distinctly remember right before I joined LHC when I was still trimming out layers, I mentioned to the stylist not to trim much, since I was growin my hair long. She looked at me and was like, it it’s already long girl! I was shook. I was just at bsl but it felt APL still (to be fair my shortest layers were at apl, so). So jarring!

Every time I go to a hairdresser they always talk about how thick my hair is. Now I'm here and seeing other people's thickness and my pony tail measures in the medium range kinda blew my mind a bit. My hair isn't actually that thick it's just they all try and use a tangle teaser on my hair and the bristles are too short for it to get all the way through.
Hairdressers are a funny breed eh?

I can imagine! It's crazy how things look so different from the outside.

Yep. I'm in the same boat - I count as medium here, but just about every hairdresser I've ever been to has talked about how thick my hair is, and how much there is of One even said she was planning on finishing it off with some thinning, and I had to stop her right there. Hell no. Thank goodness she took me seriously, and that was several years ago now, but I still don't understand why she'd want to do that.

I've got to the point where I need to stand further away from the mirror when I take a photo, which is nice!
Still not there yet, but definitely making progress...

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I’m so tempted to towel test . I am supposed to wait until 1st May
I’m pretty sure I’m APL now
It looks it and feels it
I mean will waiting the extra two weeks really make THAT much difference?

Do you want to wait? ;) On the one hand, two weeks could make it extra undeniable, but on the other you could know now. I'm the opposite of helpful :P

I Know this is going to sound exaggerate but today as it’s nice and sunny I wore my hair down outside which I don’t normally do
I actually feel like I have some length
It feels longish
I can feel it in the slight breeze
It’s LOVELY 😊

Well I'm fairly certain I'm there too. I'm halfway through a house move so I don't have a mirror to take a length shot with. Looking forward to graduating up a thread as well :D

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Haha I’m bursting to check :)
I keep looking in the mirror and feeling the back of my hair
I’m pretty sure APL to BSL is going to be a breeze . Feels almost BSL already lol
I don’t know if that’s because when i reach my hand behind my back maybe I’m tilting a little ... I try not to but it’s hard to tell

Whelp
Got sick of looking at my ends and gave myself a trim now ive got at least another inch to apl again so i’ll be here a while lol
I did a small deep condition with a very small amount of amla as well waiting for it to dry to see if it messed with my henna much
Sigh lol at least my ends look better now

LOL awesome! I hope does turn out to be a breeze :D The other day I was bending my head back to see how long I could make my hair feel - it definitely made those other lengths seem closer!
This morning I took a shot to see how far I am from BSL, and it's looking like about a year (linking this because bra! Also, please excuse the tag that's poking out). Thinking it could only be a year is kinda nice! Especially as BSL to waist isn't really all that far on me.
It's weird because it looks from that photo like I'm at APL wet, but I'm pretty sure it's just how I'm standing. Sadly it's a fair distance still dry.

Congrats on your trim, sounds like it was worth it :) What's amla btw?
