Re: The much-recommended SMT (Snowymoon's Moisture Treatment)
I’m curious if anyone with silver hair has tried this. I have very dry, silver hair that’s in need of some moisture but my concern here is staining.
Edit- I’m going to try this out tonight.
4 tablespoons of conditioner
1 tablespoon of Aloe Vera gel
1 tablespoon of EVOO
Edit- I tried this last night. I shampooed first, applied the mixture to my wet hair, covered it with a plastic bag and a hair turban towel, left it on for about an hour and 10 minutes (all I had time for), rinsed it out and then I let it air dry.
It didn’t seem to do much in terms of dryness. My hair feels a little softer but it also appears a little greasy so I’m going to try shampooing again tonight and see how it looks and feels.
I still have some mixture leftover. Next time I will try applying it to dry hair (especially since I’ll be using EVOO again instead of honey) and then shampooing after. I suspect I will like the results better if I do it that way.
Re: The much-recommended SMT (Snowymoon's Moisture Treatment)
Finally gave this a try today. Used Garnier Ultimate Blends Argan Oil And Almond Cream For Dry Hair as the conditioner. It has been in my stash for a while, and I need to empty it.. I measured in tablespoons, which seems to be a good amount for my hair. Kept it on for an hour under plastic bag + towel, rinsed off, air dried. After brushing, my hair feels super soft and has a nice shine to it! Will repeat.
I don't have a microwave, but I made the mix, put the bowl in the sink and let it sit in boiling hot water from the kettle while I showered. I think it worked. No curdling!

I can’t wait to try this out!
Re: The much-recommended SMT (Snowymoon's Moisture Treatment)
Doing a second round of SMT today. I liked it the last time, but I see room for improvement/experiments:
- Keep it on for longer (I did 1 hour last time)
- Test with different moisturizer (turns out the mask I'm currently using as conditioner has aloe in it already)
- Adjust amount. In total, I had 6 tablespoons of SMT last time. I was able to get it all in, but it feels like a lot of product.
- Do a round of silicone conditioner after rinsing out
- Add leave-in after rinsing out
But it's probably wise to test one thing out at a time. This time I put K18 on first, so my hair was slightly dryer when applying SMT. Can't wait to see the results!

What did you change the second time around? Are you happier with the new resuts? I'm a bit in the dark about how much to heat it up.
I'd like to try it out, as soon as I find a good aloe vera gel :D

Yay! I can definitely recommend it
I used the same amounts and didn't change anything other than how wet my hair was when I applied. Usually when I put on conditioners or masks, I just wring my hair out carefully and maybe put it in a towel for a minute or two. I believe that makes the mask absorb better in the hair (not 100% sure about that, but I've always done it like that). Think I read somewhere in this thread that SMT is great to use after protein treatments, so I wanted to use it after k18. K18 is a rebonding leave-in treatment that you put in damp, newly washed, non-conditioned hair. But it takes some minutes to put in, and you should also wait 4 minutes before applying anything else. So naturally, my hair was a bit dryer than when I just came out of the shower! It worked great! I also clarify my hair before using K18, so the extra moisture is highly needed!
Now, today I tried a third time! This time, I made a smaller amount. I measured in teaspoons instead of tablespoons, so I got a more decent amount of SMT for one use! However, I noticed curdles. I used a different brand aloe gel, but I also left the mixture in the water bath to heat up for a longer time. It's trial and failure, I think.. Or the new aloe gel. I left it on for several hours this time, probably 3-4. It worked fine, but I don't feel like my hair is as soft as the previous times. Could be the time, could be the amount.
Good luck! Remember to rinse really well :)

Hmm I might try this on my next wash...
Re: The much-recommended SMT (Snowymoon's Moisture Treatment)
I just got some aloe, I think I'll try this next wash. I know my hair really likes aloe, unsure if I'll use honey. Considering swapping it out for EVOO.
Re: The much-recommended SMT (Snowymoon's Moisture Treatment)
Aw, I wish my poor aloe plant wasn't in recovery (took a nasty fall and looks very ugly right now) because I would love to try this!
Re: The much-recommended SMT (Snowymoon's Moisture Treatment)
I barely have any honey, so I did EVOO instead--which is basically just adding aloe to my usual moisturizing treatment (conditioner + EVOO). I also shampoo'd it out because I do my treatments pre-wash. My hair loves it, it's super soft, feels AMAZING and is so slippy. I'm considering trying it at the end of my wash as my last condition instead of first. I usually do my DT as the first C in CW(W)C, so not sure if I'd skip that first C all together and just do the overnight oil, or just use plain conditioner.
Does anyone else CWC with this as one of the C's? Or pre-wash oil?
