Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
My hair stayed in a French braid all day! I'm so excited to be in this stage finally!

I realized a few days ago that for some reason shoulder length to almost APL always looks like my hair is basically not growing. Anytime I grow my hair out, this is when I ignore it because it always looks the same to me. And then one day, it looks like it finally grew. Im hoping that time is soon. I know its grown because I can put it in a twist in a claw clip and there are no straggler hairs, but to me it looks almost the same. I will do a length picture in June. I don't think I have done one since March! Hoping I will see some visible growth then. I also feel like the ends are getting wispy, and I might need a trim too... Hopefully not.
It's pretty remarkable how much slower it seems to grow past shoulder! I similarly got my hair into a cinnamon bun with a fork and it actually stayed so I know it's growing but it really does look the same to me as it did when I called shoulder about 2 months ago. Hopefully we both feel some growth in our hearts soon, instead of just knowing it in our minds! :)
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I'm nowhere near APL yet and I'm so anxious. I'm struggling with keeping my ends in a high bun for sleep and it's too short to braid. Oh why did I cut my hair?

Damaged ends dye or just felt like it one day?

I feel the opposite, my hair at this point seems to be growing much faster now that I'm past shoulder. I think its because I am able to do more styles with it now that it is long enough to braid and bun.

I prefer the way Dutch braids look in general, but at this length they "shred" too much, French braids stay neater for longer. Maybe at APL Dutch braids will stick better!

Oxie,
I know, missing in action for a while, but just wanted to say holy crap, your hair has gotten a lot longer and is looking amazing. I am still disappointed in growth that I don't find inspiration to take a picture, but I should. I can actually get the front parts in a pony, but if the wind blows at all, it seems to come right out and remind me...arghh.
I need to come back in and socialize with you all (yes, you too Bat!!!) to get me right in the head....lol
congrats again...looks great.

I'm glad I'm not the only one haha. Thanks for making me feel better about it! I actually have been experimenting with using about 4 times as much oil and silicones after washing concentrated at the ends, and it's actually starting to lay down a little bit:

I've also sort of realized what's going on with my crown being so straight compared to the rest, and I think it's just due to thinning. I always had a massive amount of hair my whole life that I never thought mine would thin, but I've known for a while that the hairline is receding, and now it's dawned on me that the hairs on my crown are slightly thinner than the rest. I had been using a hair density serum from The Ordinary for a couple months, and I noticed that some of the hairs on the hairline started becoming more textured, and maybe thicker and a little denser, and that's when it occurred to me that the texture is different because it's thinner. I have a massive amount of sun damage on my face and probably my scalp so perhaps that's why. Either way this serum seems to be helping a bit. Gonna keep using it for a while before I give any glowing recommendations though.

Yes! Come back we miss you, I tried putting blue in my red part and the tips went black and the red part stayed red, so I hate my hair again it seems like it isn’t growing either
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
