That looks very cool, how did you do it?

Good question... I started by twisting it up as if I was going to do a peacock twist, then instead of leaving the ends sticking out upwards I twisted them around into a sort of "knot". I then had to keep a tight hold of it while I inserted the sticks. I need both sticks to keep this in place but once they're in it holds really well. My hair is only 18" with lots of layers so I'm quite pleased that I got this to work.
Oh and thank you!

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
it looks very nice! My hair is longer than yours and has no layers and I STILL can't manage sticks!

Yes, looks very very good. It looks like you did what I was explaining as the Up & Down on my previous post. In looking at the styling videos on the flexi-8 site, do you think that's what you did? Because I think your do looks great, and it could help others of us to use forks or sticks.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I'm shedding like mad :( about 160 hairs this morning in the shower. I COC wash two to three times a week, depending on the condition. I detangle in the shower, let it airdry and brush it carefully with a paddle brush if it looks too messy. I have it braided most of the time and sleep with it braided on a silk pillow. HALP!

I totally missed your link, thanks for posting. Yes it's basically the same thing, mine looks a bit different because it's not very long yet. I hope this helps some people, it's fun to be able to wear pretty sticks already :) I just hope it can recreate the style tomorrow!

Is your hair definitely getting thinner? I shed tonnes too but it doesn't seem to affect the thickness so I guess new hairs are growing in at the same rate, maybe the same is happening for you?

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I'm in a crazy shed too. Not sure why. Definitely over a hundred yesterday and maybe half that today. I'm hoping it's a phase!

I've been shedding kittens for the past few weeks :( Hopefully it's just a "start of summer" or stress thing.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
miss_asimov is it only on shower days? I tend to find that I shed next to nothing normally then a whole bunch when I wash, because washing and detangling afterwards encourages already loose hairs to shed/come out.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I am happy to report I am leaving this thread and moving on to the APL to waist thread!!!! YAY!! I hit solid APL this month and am ready for the next step. Come on, hair, grow!!

WAY TO GO!!!!
Is your hair totally different now?
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Here is my comparison shot from June 14-June 21. I think a good bit of the difference is that my hair was damp tonight and freshly combed with my TT. So, you can see the texture looks different-less flip:

CB...that's a BIG difference! congratulations! What in the heck is your secret?! :)

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
maybe I should just stop measuring, too, then. I usually get my DH to measure for me and he complains that it's not accurate, lol.
Caroilnaberry, your hair looks great!!
kdaniels8811 congrats!! :cheese:
miss_asimov and Bunnysaur, I've been shedding more too. Hopefully it's just a seasonal thing. I wonder if I'm just paying more attention to it now, cause I never used to pay attention to how much I shed before.
I just finished putting together some photos from Apirl, May and June to see if I've had some growth and posted them on the monthly photo thread, thought I'd post them here to, I'm happy that there's some growth cause it sure feels slow! The April photo it was flat ironed (I've mostly stopped the heat now), the second it's wet and the third is some serious nappy bedhead hair, but it will have to do for now!

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
CarolinaBerry, you must use your tattoo as a marker too, huh? It's convenient, isn't it? :D
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
I'm chiming in! I'm so impatient to get to APL... Especially because the hair flip is driving me wild!
Quite frustrating. But together, we'll get there ^^
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
My hair hits APL when wet now. I can't wait until it reaches it when dry.
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
My longest length is bsl but I am focusing on what's left of my side bangs which is cbl. So I think I fit here for the most part.
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
My hair is APL when wet as well - at least the longest layers are - but I also discovered that there is a surprising amount of wave starting past shoulder so I assume it will be a while until I'm there dry. These almost curly waves are actually quite a new discovery for me. I had really short hair for many years and prior to that, when my hair was about BSL, I seriously abused it. My hair has not been in its natural state for - well - decades and I always thought it was straight... I'm curious what will happen when it gets longer :D
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
It's fun to watch our hair change as it gets healthier/longer, isn't it?
Mine is damaged and not as nice as it could be but when it was waist/hip length in the fall so many waves were in my hair that aren't there when it's shorter!

Yeah, it's definitely quite an amazing and surprising journey :D
I'm pretty tired after a really rough day, and when I just looked at the pictures you posted earlier today I was totally confused by your tattoos switching sides on your back. I seriously stared at them for quite a while and couldn't figure it out. I'll be off to bed here soon

I'm brushing APL and my stupid flip still hasn't gone away, so I still look like I'm at SL unless my hair is sopping wet

well two were taken by someone and one (the one where I'm holding the camera) was taken by me using my big bathroom mirror, hence it's flipped :p

OrganicJewel, it looks like you're getting some crazy growth! What are you doing?!

thanks Bunnysaur :) It is growing pretty good, I had bangs that brushed my eyebrows in January and they're four inches longer now, at my bottom lip. Anyway, I'm doing a lot of things, actually pratically everything, so who knows what's helping, but I was doing monistat once a week and that stinky mtg once a week, too (I haven't for the last month though, out of laziness and not wanting stinky bacon hair). Castor oil scalp massage before every wash. I take biotin, epo, fish oil, vitamin D before it got sunny and hot out, folic acid, msg, vitamin e and a gel silicea supplement and sleeping with a silk cap.

Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Bunnysaur, I forgot to tell you, you can buy horse shampoo at certain grocery stores. And if you have a Sally's or 99 cent Green tree store, where you live, you can find it. Or maybe any beauty supply store. Good luck.

Brushing APL yet still at flip length here, too. Woo type one hair and stubborn kinkage!
-
Re: Calling all who are growing shoulder to APL!
Aah, but you see, I have this deal with mine that I will endure the flip while it's still SL. I pamper it all the time to show how committed I am. In return, it will be ramrod straight like it used to as soon as it reaches APL.
You see? It's fool proof. Ahem.

Good luck, as far as I remember I have awkward shoulder kink until at least BSL.

I had shoulder kink until a little past shoulder, then it turned into waves.

Sadly mine's because my hair only takes the kinks it likes and tends to settle over my shoulders when it's drying.
