A pile of amazing hair pics, truly. But it looks as if the writer has used Google and harvested a pile of hair pics from all over the internet and thrown them all together in this post, with no explanations of the styles, and no attributions.

It's a nice collection, but it does look more like someone's personal pinterest board of hairstyles than what I was expecting. There were a few duplicates, a lot of photos focused more on unique coloring than styling, and at least one wig. It would have been nice to have source links and maybe a few tutorials, but I think this community just has me spoiled.

Just before the comments, there were some links to the "Most Like articles about hair", so I clicked Top 10 All Time Favorite Hairstyles. Three of them had the word "backcombed" in the title. Seriously? Does "all time" only go back a few decades or something? Or maybe it's just all time since the beginning of the internet.

Sparrowswing, you're right on target! Many of those styles are fairly current/recent. Nothing really "old". A lot of them require a fairly high amount of dexterity with hair, which is something many people don't have. When was the last time you saw a "carousel braid" in the wild? Heck, I've rarely even seen a crown braid around here...unless I'm wearing it!

I love the braids and the woven styles, but with some of them all I see is the teasing and hairspray that must have gone into them, and I just think, ugh ... not worth it! :) (I don't like styles with a lot of puff on top, anyway.)

- Some of the styles were inspiring, but I agree with what some posters said, how it's mainly styles for european/white hair .

Also like someone else wrote here; all the obvious products or backcombing that goes into some of the hairstyles don't attract me . . unless I could figure out a way to do them without these things !

That list has a LOT of repetition. There are at least 4+ waterfall braids, 4+ carousel braids, 4+ fishtail braids, multiple instances of dip dyed loose hair, and at least a couple cage braids. And I'm not even halfway through. There are also a lot of styles built on twin French, Dutch, or lace braids with some kind of bun to go with, tho these tend to be more creative.

Fishtail braids are something anyone can learn. Same goes for French, Dutch and lace braids. The other stuff is less attainable when working alone :).
