Hawaii Trip Hairstyles 1~ French fishtail, braid waves, & updo (pics)

My brother, sister and I just got back from the Big Island of Hawaii. We went to
the Life Song Getaway at the Hilton Waikoloa Village in Kona. What an amazing experience!


The Kona airport is in the middle of a field of lava rock, along the seashore.

One day I tried the diagonal French fishtail braid that Lilith Moon explains in a recent tutorial.
My diagonal didn't turn out very good, but I liked the tight look of the fishtail.

The next morning, I undid the braid and found my hair had these nice braid waves. This is actually
my first time to take pictures of braid waves. Thanks to my sister for helping me out!

Pastor Greg Laurie was the guest speaker during Life Song, so we got to meet him and his wife Cathe after the service.
They are so kind, and remembered meeting us last year in Auckland.



(By the way, if you get a chance, look up Pastor Greg's website at Harvest.org and watch the archives from Harvest America. Over 70,000 people came to the Anaheim stadium this week-end to hear Pastor Greg preach.)

Yes, I braid my hair by myself, and actually it doesn't take me that long. I think the French fishtail braid took longer than some of my other hairstyles~ fishtails always do, of course~ it took about 25-30 minutes if I remember right. Maybe not quite as long...it's hard to remember!

I like to keep my ends trimmed so they look nice and even across the bottom. I think that makes your hair look longer and thicker. My last trim was about 2-3 months ago, so it's probably time for another one. I only get about 1/4'' trimmed at a time~ more if that's what it takes to make my ends even.

As for my hair-care routine, I usually wash my hair on Tuesday night and Saturday night. I love Herbal Essences shampoo and conditioner. I've been using the Long Term Relationship but today I used the Honey, I'm Strong for the first time and really liked it. I like Frizz-Ease products, and play around with those. Mainly I use the Frizz-Ease serum, FE smoothing cream, and FE conditioning/detangling spray. Sometimes I use Johnson & Johnson's detangling spray (No More Tears) instead. I use a wide-tooth comb, and never use a brush, except on my bangs. Oh, and I wash my hair in cool/cold water using the CWC method that I learned here on the LHC.

All the Frizz-Ease products I use when my hair is wet and I'm combing it out. I wash my hair at night and let it air-dry while I'm sleeping. When I fix my hair in the mornings it's dry, and I use hairspray when I'm all done so my look will last all day.

I thinks that's about covered it. Oh, one more thing~ if you want your hair to grow faster, eat a spoonful of peanut butter every day. Your hair will be thicker and healthier, and will grow faster. Trust me.

Gorgeous hair in a gorgeous setting. I wish my memories of Hawaii were clearer, but I haven't been there since I was little. I do remember eating sugar cane, fresh-cut, and the banana tree in my aunt's yard. BTW, I've been to Harvest; I grew up in Riverside.
