It looks to be a herringbone or fishtail braid, only with thicker sections than usual.

I think it looks like a 4-strand which is done by:
1) Divide into 4 equal sections.
2) Cross right strand over 2 middle sections.
3) Cross left strand over 1 middle section.
Repeat 2 then 3 to end.

Hmm it looks sort of like a fishtail but not quite. I know I've seen this picture on another thread here and I'm pretty sure there was a tutorial. Maybe it was the zipper braid? or cable? Check out braid pictures thread.

It's either a fishtail braid or a four strand done like spidermom said... Algthough I have seen a 6 strand braid that looks remarkably similar to that.. it was done pretty much the same way as spidermom said, except with more strands. Looks beautiful!

Not a cable braid as that is done with 4 rope braids. I was thing a thick fishtail :)

There is one braid on the braid picture thread that they are calling a cable braid: http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=45350&highlight=cable+braid&page=244. This is a zipper braid: http://data.whicdn.com/images/9061001/tumblr_lk261g2Fp71qegv3ho1_500_thumb.jpg

Looks JUST like the cable braid! Not quite a fishtail but not a regular braid.

I'd say fishbone or herringbone braid.

I'd completely forgotten about that sort of cable braid, I must bookmark that. I always think of a cable braid as Torrin's version, here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7U3oHm8I-gs). :)
"Zipper braid" looks to be another name for the herringbone/fishtail.

It's a little different, because you wrap the one tiny strand around in a figure 8 the partitions are more horizontal than diagonal.

I agree about the herringbone or fishtail. because it looks very flat and that's the results of that style.

I second this. If it's not a fishtail it might be this kind of five-strand.
