Hey everyone!

I'm starting to keep track of which styles I can and can't do with my hair as I grow it from shoulder to my goal of waist.

I find that once I figure out a new style I keep using it over and over again and forget about all the other ways I could do - so this will help get me out of the rut.

Also it will be nice to see which styles I can manage as my hair gets longer.

So here is where I am at now:
20 inches, just down

Of course I can also do a plain old pony tail (my go to style most days) - no photo

And when I was just past chin to brushing shoulder I could do stubby pig tails, or pigtail buns. But I don't like the look for me now that my hair is longer

These are the styles I could do in the 18 to 19 inch range:
sock bun:

this has 2 elastics, a sock, about 5 bobby pins, and a decorative ribbon involved

french braid:

when my hair was shorter I preferred to place the elastic right at my nape just after all the hair got gathered in to the braid - now I can go a few sections farther without the ends poking me in the neck too badly

great Idea- its funny I had the idea of doing this for other shorties- just a reference of different hairstyles you can do as my hair is in 18-20. Maybe this thread could become hairstyles catalogue for the shorties...

I did the french braid the other night and my fiancee adored it.
nice pictures too btw

Just in the past week or two I've managed these styles for the first time

French twist:

using this method here: http://pinterest.com/pin/45176802482708904/

and top knot:

That's all I've got for now. I'm madly in love with my hairzing combs, but I don't have any action shots yet. I didn't have the patience to set up the delayed shots with my camera, and when I asked my sister to take some pictures of the back of my head I got a resounding 'No'

Thanks Starry,

I'll be honest, I'm posting this mostly for me, but I really hope it can help someone else out too.

It's funny to think of my length hair as 'shorty' but in the LHC world it really is!

Oh my god, I love this thread! Your hair color is lovely and those photos are wonderfully clear. My hair is creeping past shoulder now and I really need to learn how to do more styles beyond the ponytail and peacock twist.

Thank you!

I've worn my hair so short for so long, that I really don't know what's possible as it grows, but I'm really creative and want to try new things.

I deeply appreciated your sharing ideas and how-tos! :cheer:

I'm still finding my way around the LHC, where is my blog? and how do I post in it?
