While my hair was wet tonight, I decided I wanted to braid my hair. I've been looking into fishtail braiding lately, so I thought, why not. I struggled. Immensely. So then I said, okay, well I'll try a different type of braid. Then I realized that I only know about 4 types of braids, and the only braid I can actually DO is the standard English braid. Everything I looked up on french and dutch braiding was more about the finished product than actually helping you learn the braid itself, and when I fishtailed it looked neat in the beginning, then it started to go into WTFsville in the middle, then neat at the end. I think it's because I tried to do it in pigtails, so maybe the sections weren't thick enough. I don't know.

So, does anyone know, have, or are willing to make a video that depicts how to do these braids? Preferably someone doing it on THEIR OWN HEAD? I found one video a LOOONG time ago of a lady doing it on a little girls hair, but she had different colored scrunchies on each finger, and that helped me so much! I'm going to thumb through my cosmetology book tonight; there's a section on braiding I wish I'd looked at before--and grab one of my old manikins from my shelf and start practicing any and all braids I can find.

**Most of these braids are ones I want to sleep in, but I wouldn't mind doing them to wear in my hair normally, too. Why can I not do a scalp braid? Or even a "anything above the freaking ear" braid? I have to part my hair behind the ear, then make another part, a horizontal one, above the ear. Then do 2 braids, one on the top, one below the ear. Ugh.

Try looking for torrinpaige on youtube (and also a fellow LHC member). She does several different braids and such on her own head, and in my experience have found her tutorials very helpful. :)

Torrin is amazing for teaching. You can also try Loepsi as well, Torrin has even done one of her hairstyles as well. I learned how to french and dutch from her.
