Hi all,
I am in the process of growing out some blonde hair dye and letting my natural salt-n-pepper greys take over. I am 6 months without dyeing now, and of my 'almost' waist-length hair I have about 4-5 inches of grey/white roots. I decided, to help me grow out the tidemark, to go to a salon and have my annual trim () and get some white streaks put into the whole length of my hair at the same time, with two wider white streaks each side of my centre parting framing my face. So my question is this: my plan is to occasionally dye these wider stripes at the front fun colours, but don't want anything permanent. Has anyone here used the Manic Panic dyes on white hair? How long do they last? And do they COMPLETELY wash out? Thanks in advance! :)
Peace,
Pixie :Star:

It really depends on your hair. When I do a Manic Panic type product on my natural blonde, silver, and white hair, it slowly fades out over about 4 months. I'm sure it would be different on bleached hair. I've seen complaints that it washes out too quickly for some, not quickly enough for others.

I agree with spidermom, it's hard to say how long manic panic will last in your hair. I've bleached and used manic panic many times and the lasting power seems to depend on the color of dye. Vampire red and Hot hot pink lasted the longest for me.

I agree with the PP's. It really depends on your hair. Mine held on to Manic Panic and would not wash out! It did fade (from bright blue to a sea-green) but it never did let go completely. It (a year later) still looks a little green in certain lights.

Manic Panic Vampire Red (and some other colours) stained my dark blonde hair permanently, I had to have it stripped... Be careful.

- I would buy the cheap off brand one component dye and dilute it a lot with conditioner .
Like in my local hair stores in Camberwell we have a good powerful brand like Directions but also there's other dye's which aren't as permanent like Adore or similar brands, which have much less pigments or something it seems like !

Directions washed/rubbed straight out of my hair when it was brown. Now it is white, the colour stays a bit longer, but still comes out quicker than when I had to bleach to get it stay in. There was no staining either.
I don't know anything about Manic Panic though.

I used to do this when I was younger and may do it again eventually. Manic Panic stayed on my silver roots (or bleached roots) for quite a while but it faded however that was ok because I would re-apply every month or so to keep my new growth colored.
I found one of the greens (can't remember which one but it was teal colored) faded out to a very nice blue green color. Red faded out too pink which I hated and purple also faded out to a pinkish grey color I didn't like.
I also used some of the cheap halloween hair colorings and even though they are supposed to wash out they lasted almost as long as the MP on my silvers or bleached roots.
Manic Panic is very gentle and seemed to my hair like conditioner - I would recommend it.

Manic panic can be unpredictable, and different for each type of hair. So it doesn't stain, put it on already conditioned hair(if you condition) and don't use heat on it while processing(that's how mine went permanent I think). Always use a strand test each time you want to color if you're afraid of it staining!
