When to add to henna mix

Do I wait for the dye release to add extras like amla, coconut oil, conditioner etc or do I mix it all up together initially? Thanks!

I wait til after dye release to add things like conditioner, I'm not sure about amla, though.

I've done it both ways and it doens't seem to make a difference. I prefer to do the dye relase, then add the extras after though, I tend to get a better consistency.
