I heard that oils are good for reducing shedding and thickening hair strands and making it grow thicker.. and some say the opposite? my hair is dry if it matters :)

It varies by individual. I keep oils away from my scalp, which produces more than enough oil all on its own.
Experiment; see what you like.

Definitely varies person to person as with anything you do to your hair. Try it, and see what happens. If it ends with good results then continue, if it doesn't then don't do it again. Live and learn :P

Oils will not make your hair thicker. That is determined by your genetics.

I heard massaging castor oil on your scalp helps hair growth... I'm not sure if it makes it thicker.

Never really affected my hair.
