I'm a curly girl and I have multiple hair types and two different textures. Very fine, curly hair in the back with very thick heavy hair at the top. half and half almost.

The top (fully dry) very thick strands with bigger curls/waves

Underneath that layer is my fine layer

Side baby small fine curls sorry it's so close and blurry

You can see the separation it goes from very shiny with no frizz, to only frizz

I just have to deal with it I guess. I clump and do everything I need to do but I guess that's just how my hair is. Is it a porosity issue?

I'm glad you found a way to deal with it, its not really changeable. Your hair is gorgeous though, either way. Oh and welcome to LHC!

I have really fine 3a hair around my temples, 3b at the front and coarse 3c in the back. Generally I just ignore the 3a and 3b parts cause they're so small and focus on making the 3c look good.

Is it possible that the front of your hair is more frizzy because it's more exposed to the elements and more prone to mechanical damage? I've observed in DBF's head, who has the same type of hair all over, that the canopy looks way less shiny than the underlayers. I think it's due to all the sun he's exposed to.

Okay, I'll bite.

Saw this thread last night and the first thought that occurred to me was that it really looks like you might be a 4 in the front, instead of a 3. However, I find that people can be somewhat resistant to a typing change.

If you are a 4 in that area, then you might want to look in to a different approach to your hair care. Up the moisture. By A LOT. Try a good deep conditioning treatment, then once you've done that and rinsed it out, seal it in with your oil of choice. If you're already doing that, then you might want to consider a product change. Your curls won't suffer from an overhaul, but the front area could potentially benefit from a different technique/product selection.

I don't have different types, but my sister does. The top of her head has 1a hair, and as it goes towards the nape it gets wavier till it reaches full on 2b. The way she deals with it is by having a straight hemline with no layers, so the hair blends in together better. She's still only 14 years old though so we are just waiting to see if it will change more as she ages.

My hair is mostly 2b/2c, but at the nape of my neck it is very straight, like 1b... so I sometimes braid that part to make some braid waves and blend better...

I guess for your hair type lots of condition could incentivate curls, I'm not sure though

No. Those are my biggest curls they are about 3b. They are just frizzy and undefined. The curls around my hair line are indeed 4a though.
Same day different angles. I'm guessing the weight of those curls stretches it but why so dry?

That top layer of bigger curls stretches over my baby curls because it's my longest layer.

That makes a lot of sense. Maybe it needs some babying

I am 2c on most of my hair, but I do have a layer underneath the top part that looks more like 1b/c.

Beautiful curly hair! I used to pay lots of money to get curly hair! Now I let it be it's natural straight self. Glad to see that you do the same.

I can't find the post, but I read on LHC that someone with the same problem just acts like they have two different heads of hair. She treats one part like it's coily and one part like it's curly. That way she's not looking for some impossible product that will make her hair all behave.

Maybe that's an approach? Maybe heavier butters on the front and lighter products in the 3b section?
