Hi Everyone! =) I think this goes here, but I'm not quite sure.
I've been reading up on essential oils and what does what for the hair and skin. Lavender is popular here and after reading more about it, I bought the NOW brand 100% pure Lavender oil. The thing is, how do I use it with coconut oil? Mine is usually solid at room temperature. I already oiled my hair today so I can't experiment yet on the hair.
I melted about a heaping tablespoon (solid) into a glass bowl, melted it, then added about two drops to it. It smelled strong and I was afraid I added too much. To test for sensitivity I rubbed the mixture on my wrists. The smell vanished, and there was no reaction. To be honest, I bought the EO thinking that I could improve the smell of my unscented coconut oil (it's like a faint buttery smell - not rancid) and by extension make my hair smell great between washes.
I put some in a very small mister bottle with purified water and the melted coconut oil. I added another drop. Smells strong in the bottle, so I spray some on my arm to see how it smells as an after shower spray. Hardly any smell and it dissipates in about a minute. On the upside, the oil sunk in the skin perfectly.
What to do? Should I have gotten a different carrier oil? I did look at the Jojoba, grapeseed and sweet almond oils they had there too, but I haven't tried them. I do like how they stay in a liquid state though.
I kinda wish I saved my money and bought Monoi oil online instead. :o Also, for those of you who do love EOs, what other oils would you recommend for the hair and for scent? I really like cloves but I didn't know what it would do for the hair.
Thanks!
