I stopped using silicones and heavy conditioners, just to see. Suddenly, I have waves.Has anyone else seen this before? My hair has been sick straight forever...

that's nice! I've also been using cones for a while, my hair is a little wavy with them, but I lack the courage to hair-type myself accurately (clairifying only)

It seems to be a pretty common occurrence around here. You should check out the wavies thread, it is full of people who thought they were just misbehaving straighties.

This happened to me! I'm struggling with the texture change. I was a 1a my whole life until now.

My hair is much curlier when I don't use cones. That's one of the reasons why I use them. :p

I am currently going through this! Always thought of myself as a 1b, now I'm still figuring it out. When I dry after clarifying, I look 2a, however I can't always get my hair this clean (mainly because I use conditioner) so I'm at a loss of how to get my waves going. It's been a fun new experiment, though :)
