So after some deep thought I have decided that I am going to try giving salons another chance and search for a good stylist! My last trim in a salon was back in January, where I had asked for a 1/4 trim and she did, and then proceded to "texturize" my hair (i.e. cut more hair off in an unorganized fashion). Now I have tried the self trimming method and the results aren't the same and I just miss the whole salon experience.

I was hoping someone from the boards would be from the Orlando area (I am willing to travel a little but nothing crazy!) who could make suggestions on any salons or stylists that they have had great success with. At this point I am looking for just a small 1/2 inch trim and may go back to coloring my hair in the future.

Thanks in advance!!:cheese:

Well I am from the area, but about 60 miles out of Orlando. There are a few in the Daytona area, one in particular i have had great luck with, but probably not worth the drive for you - Port Orange and Ormond Beach. Can give you details if you need them

I am interested too. I can't find a salon I'm happy with.

I live a little north of Orlando, but have not found a great stylist locally. If any of you wavy/curly folks are interested in a Deva Cut/trim, and wanna drive a bit, I have an amazing person in St Pete for you. I know, I know , 2+ hours, but it was so worth it for the cut. I've been putting off trimming since I'm trying to get more length, but will make the drive for an itty bitty trim and shaping when I'm ready.

I've never had a problem just getting a trim and I live in Longwood. I just go to Cost Cutters or whatever and tell them to trim off what I want. Of course, I normally get about five inches cut from mine because i only do it once a year. And, I don't tend to pay too much attention to my length - me:"Are you sure you cut it?" hairstylist: "Yes, five inches" Me: "Huh" <<shrug>>That's about how well I monitor my length.

Good luck!! Try one of the Orlando sites that recommend the best places to go.

I have no advice on the dye aspect. I am a born-with-it Calico. ;)

I finally did it! I got my trim. I found the salon from a site that rates them. The stylist was previously a long hair (She said it was to her butt) and when she went to beauty school she cut it off and is currently trying to grow it back out to at least BSL. We talked about my goals and did a deep conditioning treatment (Which my hair LOVES!) and only took off about a 1/4 inch. It looks great and feels soft! She blew it out, but no flat iron (she strongly urged my to throw mine out even though I rarely do it and that blowing it straight works just as well) I totally plan on going back to here in a few months for another treatment and trim! Yay I'm so happy!

Robert Severo on Aloma ave was the name of the salon and the stylist was Caitlin. There are other long hair specialists there that I'm sure would do a great job!

Curly girl fla - I live in St. Pete. Would you mind sharing with me the salon and the name of that amazing stylist?

Future CCC-SL - what is the name of the stylist-rating site?
TIA.

Are you talking about Tamara's? I've been thinking about trying her.

Sure-here's a link to the salon info (Essentials) and reviews for Tiffany Anderson from naturallycurly.com:

I called her first since it was a little hike for me, and she really asks/listens to what you want. She is the only Deva trained stylist in the area within a couple of hours, and, even if you don't have curly hair, she is very sensitive to her client's needs and knows the importance of what "only a 1/4 inch" means, lol!
