Well we have threads for braids and for buns so I was thinking we need one for hair tapings as well. So here is the thread show off your hair tapings.

That last one is amazing! I don't know much about taping - is that different from using ribbons in braids etc? If you have a link handy I'd be grateful! :)

Hair taping is a technique where ribbon is sewn into the hair so that hair stay in place, this was common before hair pins and such was invented or became cheap enough that most women could afford them, basically this is just sewing braids to your head. :D

Looks beautiful Veneficia - wish I could do it. I have already bought ribbons for this purpose, but haven't yet done it. If I do it I will post a picture here. Thanks for starting this thread :thumbsup:

Thank you so much. I will also say that this is not difficult at all, just braid, wrap, hold it in place with something and sew, if you can fix a hole in a pair of socks you can do hair tapings. :D

You can do hair taping with shoulder length hair as well, it is a style that work for most lengths of hair, you might not be able to wrap your hair around your head, but you can do cute little shapes and just sew them into place.

It's just a dutch lace braid, but it's two deep in some places and the angle doesn't show what it is very well. It's the same crown braid as the one I posted in the braid picture thread, I just taped it up for fun. ;)

Really like this! Wish my hair was long/thick enough.
I think my hair wasn't much longer than yours the first time I tried hairtaping. What I did then, was make a pair of pigtails and lay over the crown of my head, and stitch into place. A diadem rather than a full crown. ;)

The beige ribbon is 7 mm wide, the white ribbon is 1 cm wide. It is quite ordinary satin ribbon, and I bought it where I buy my sewing supplies. :)
