Hello there, I'm new too. I have tried honey before and henna- I also have brown hair. I would reccomend the following:

chamomile tea: just make a cup of chamomile tea, allow it to cool and rinse your hair with it after you wash it.

lemon juice: use this if you want results fast, but it can be kind of drying

Maybe you should try mixing honey with the lemon juice for something more mild, keep in mind that honey is a humectant- which means it is moisturizing so if you mix it with the lemon it won't be as harsh, but I am not sure if it will be as effective.

Give this a try, and if you still have questions please ask!

:)

it can make it a light brown, during the warmer months you will see more of a drastic change. i think you should do lemon when its hot, put it in your hair and go outside etc., so the sun can lighten it, and you can use chamomile after you shower if you can't go out in the sun. with repeated use of lightening products you could possibly get the light brown you want. goodluck! ;)

you might start out with reading this thread http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=148 it has a huge amount of info about honey lightening, keeping in mind that dark brown to light brown will most likely be many applications, but probably not impossible!

good luck!

I think aloe Vera gel depletes the peroxide qualities of the honey as does lemon juice but cinnamon and olive oil too have natural mild peroxide properties which will help with the honey to lighten your hair, be warned it takes quite a few applications to see a difference. For me I was using it to lighten my then hendigos hair and it took 4 months worth to lighten it, on virgin hair your looking a few months minimum before you get obvious lightening from it, of course it depends on your hair colour. I did a honey in conditioner today not to lighten but because I love how honey leave my hair feeling so soft and shiny and I got lightening from just one application but my hair is quite light anyway.

Yes I think the aloe Vera may prevent lightening but not 100% sure on that, you won't see results straight away anyway, were talking a good few attempts before you get noticeable lightening, it took me quite a few months! All one session will do is add softness, moisturise and make it shiny you won't lighten on one attempt!

Clover honey worked well for me or go for the darker honeys for maximum affect

Yep, I'm pretty sure the aloe would prevent lightening. And it definitely takes a few applications. It did work for me though!

I've been using avocado and honey as mosturizing hair mask for the past weeks with great results, and my hair is really dry. I noticed my hair is more lighten. Sometimes I add a little of almond oil, but oil or not is really mosturizing.

honey seems to have brightened my henna- treated hair, making it more orange and less red. it didn't get rid of any of the henna. I have heard it works well on virgin hair.

My mom's hair has darkened with age and she'd like to lighten it naturally... but it is also somewhat damaged and she has some medical conditions that are making it difficult for her to grow it long (which she definitely wants to do), so I'm trying to find ways to ameliorate any damage from the peroxides in the honey -- would mixing the honey with olive or coconut oil be all right? Or would it, like aloe, reduce the bleaching effect? Suggestions? Thanks muchly!

Mixing honey with lemon juice depleats the action of honey.

To the op Honey will lighten but it takes lots of goes and I doubt with dark brown hair you will get to say lit brown, you are more likely to get an auburn colour as dark hair has naturally lots of red in it, hence why when people try lightening at home it goes brassy, also henna is not used to lighten hair it is a plant that gives red hues to hair, quite strong red hues I might add, it goes darker overtime. Although in certain lights it may appear to look lighter, it's just how the light falls on it. Just wanted to clarify that!

so u think i shouldnt add vinegar or lemon with it?

Only time regrows hair, monistat and megatek help make the scalp healthier but a healthy diet, keeping hydrated and being patient are really the only proven methods. You can supplement your protein intake with shakes which work great but I doubt very much the use of aloe Vera gel will grow your hair back. I suggest you see a doctor and get your bloods checked out for deficiencies which can be eradicated by medication, conditions have a tendency to worsen rather than rectify themselves if not treated. I wish you well.

When you use banana or avacado you have to make sure they are blended really good. Using a blender is good makes it nice and smooth going in and out of the hair.
