Wow! So pretty!
Ugh I feel like a loser. I am a hairdresser but I can not do a waterfall braid AT ALL, let alone something like this.

and that a lace braid? I thought with a waterfall, you drop pieces and pick up from one side like a lace, and a lace you only pick up, not drop? (I could be totally wrong! :/)

My bad, totally missed that.

I have no idea how you got it so even and ending so beautifully. How long did it take?

About 6 mins. I'm fast because I have been braiding my own hair since I was 12 and have done far more complicated braids than this one.

Nice work! You could definitely do that on yourself.

One question: Did it get messy pretty quickly? Whenever I do braids like this (braids that don't fully include ALL of the hair), they get messy fast and I feel like I wasted my time. Maybe it's because I have layers...

Oooh man that is an AWESOME braid! I'm definitely trying that on my roommate once she returns home. I don't think I could ever do that on myself without my arms falling asleep!

Oh wow that braid is beautiful, and I feel your pain, whenever I find a new braid I want to try my mother tells me I'm welcome to try it on her because my hair is still too short and I just get jealous cos I'm dying to try it on myself and can't haha

Could be layers. I have a lot of practice braiding my own hair. I know by muscle memory the right tension for different styles of braid. Practice helps with the neatness factor but I have a lot of time on my hand to do that sort of thing.

Why I practice so much...

Teaching yourself new skills builds neurons in your brain. So I do stuff like this a lot. Sometimes I even brush my teeth with my left hand. (right handed) If you fumble around at first when you are learning something then you get good at it with practice that is your brain growing.

That is astounding! I really admire your skill. I am envious of folks who can wear braids like that- they would just get lost in my dark curly hair. They stand out so beautifully on your mother's hair!

Very pretty braid!
I'm going to have to learn how to do these; I keep seeing variations of them and I would love to have it done on my hair, but no one around here is experienced with long hair (at least none that I would trust and know of).

Woah that looks awesome!

I'm a perfectionist and can't braid anyone's hair but my own, LOL! But especially not my mother's hair- it's very thick and I can never seem to braid it...
