At the old forums there was someone posting about onion smell in hair, I can't remember the details though. I wish you luck!

Maybe you could try washing with baking soda?

I've heard vanilla is a good odor eliminator. I don't know how you'd use it though, it would be nicer than vinegar though.

Tomato juice is supposed to be very good for getting rid of odours. I hear people use it if you get sprayed by a skunk.
Not sure what exactly it would do to the hair but should be OK. Although if it doesn't work and the garlic and tomato combine you might smell like an Italian restaurant.

Scope or listerine in a weak rinse through the hair should take care of it.
If it helps, next time you need garlic in hair, go to the vitimin section and get liquid capsules of deodorized garlic, that way you can keep the stinkies away!

Maybe a tea rinse? People suggest putting your hands in wet tea leaves to get rid of the smell of garlic from chopping, so it might help.

If you have some EOs you could also try mixing them with water to mask the smell.
I get rid of any lingering ACV smell with about 330ml of water with a few drops each of orange and grapefruit.

Coffee gets rid of smells.
Also, sounds weird but rubbing with stainless steel works too....might be odd but if you're desperate you can rub a stainless steel spoon or pot on your head.
Let us know what works for ya!

This is what I did: Mixed half a table spoon of baking soda in 1/2 cup of water, poured through hair, left 15 minutes. Rinsed out, coated with conditioner, rinsed out, then another baking soda rinse. Then I put lavender oil through my hair. Lavender oil was diluted of course.

That's what I was gonna suggest. :agree: I'd probably try combing my hair with a serving fork.
You could also try (diluted) lemon juice. That might dry out your hair, though.

Thank you so much LHC, you have inspired me to try a number of different things.
By the way, regarding removing the onion smell, I found that coffee rinses do help a lot. I mix coffee with my shampoo and leave it on my scalp for 2-3 minutes and when I rinse I can't smell onion more.
That said, I use diluted onion juice and not neat. I think it has made a difference.
