Hey LHC,

I think my hair is getting it's full thickness back post shed because it's getting a tad heavy. This is great since i went from iii to ii and i'm also microtrimming half of the growth so thickness travels down :cheese: <<<<

At the moment i do the bun where you twist and wrap it around like a snail shell, i think that's the cinnabun right? I also do the sockbun but both of these i can only wear on the very top of head due to weight and wouldn't dream of anyone seeing that! So yeah i pretty much only bun at night as a styling method. I was wondering if there are other great buns and braids i could try that also give nice curl/twist as i don't like braidwaves on myself.

Also i'm a huge fan of double buns/braids and would actually wear these in public. It'd be nice to have a couple of go-to protective styles i feel confident in public with instead of always wearing hair down.

Happy burning! The top knot is fashionable these days, although I usually only do my hair like that when I'm around the house.

Try the figure eight bun too and its cousin, the infinity bun. There are loads of great ideas in the articles section to check out.

I'm fond of the messy, loose, wad it up and hope for the best bun, because my hair does it's own thing, like a wayward toddler, you know? Leaves plenty of bedheadesque texture.

But for school, the parandi (sp?) bun is perfect. It's a straitjacket for unruly hair.

Flipped buns are very pretty, and with your length you could also try out figure-8s (or infinity buns) or braided buns, or the nautilus bun, or the Ellingswoman bun. Those are all of my go-to buns and my favorite styles. :)

There are a bunch of videos on youtube for all of the aforementioned styles, if you work better with video instructions.

Hope that helps! :flower:

It's pretty inconspicuous! Look up at the grey banner running along the top of the site and you'll find the link near the middle. Here's the direct url: http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/vbjournal.php?do=category&categoryid=1

You'll find that wearing double buns can be much more comfortable because the weight of the hair is distributed more evenly. Some examples:

double braid
double ropes
double cinnabuns
cameo bun

All of these can be achieved w/o the use of a ponytail. You simply section your hair and then style.

You can also mix and match double buns...one part cable plait, one part regular braid.

The Vortex bun is another fun creation, though I had to use a ponytail to anchor it.

I second the flipped bun. It's easy enough even for the hair klutzy (such as me) and it spreads the weight of the bun over a longer area, making it more comfortable, and it also keeps the bun from sticking out too much. I think it's a pretty bun as well, because the flipping causes the bottom of the bun to have that pretty twist that one gets from a French twist, but without all the work. I wear this almost every day.

Yeyyy i found my thread, I keep losing these suckers, LHC moves so quick!

I googled away at the suggestions and found this amazing site where the girl tries a new bun/style every day. She's probs a LHC member lol, but I figured it might make for enjoyable viewing :)

What about Bweeta's Buns (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bq0QSgCdeKU)? Interesting, needs a quantity of hair. I think it looks awesome. :)

I love the lazy wrap bun & Spidermom's bun that stays. I know people also like the nautilus bun. If you go to youtube there are videos for all. :)

If your hair is longer you can initially wrap around 2 or 3 fingers and just wrap the tail around as much as you need before you insert the stick.

As for not liking it all pulled back tight you can do something like a loose french braid or lace braids in the front. The simplest thing is to just take a small section of hair at the front and twist towards the center of your crown. Then push it forward until you get a poof that you like and pin with a clip or 2 bobby pins in a x fashion. This makes it less severe from the front. :)

This isn't the best video, but you can get the point. ;)
