I'm short, so whenever I fix my hair in anything other than a braid, I end up being unable to lean my head back if I'm in the car, or in a chair.

Are there any hairstyles and/or hair toys that I can wear and comfortably lean back in the chair?

I am mainly looking for something for when I am nursing my soon to be born little one, and something that will protect the ends since they are getting pretty damaged this summer.

Thanks!

Doesn't get more comfortable than this:

As for hair toys, the Flexi 8 is beautiful and easy to use. Available at:

Anything of the crown braid/plaited and pinned persuasion should be fine. How about Heidi braids or a topknot?

Madora, the tutorial you linked to looks very comfortable but can you tell if she is braiding three strands of hair or is she twisting two? If it is twisting then it would be a perfect comfortable style. If it is braiding...not so simple?

Swearnsue, Lilith is using two strands to create her twisted crown. This is a "lace crown" in that it only adds hair from one side.

The 3 strand lace braid (English or Dutch) works the same way but is a little more difficult to do.

I'm not particularly adept at complex styles, but what I do is a braided bun held with something durable enough that I can slip it into my pocket, like an easily replaceable stick or fork or something that won't get scratched. That way I can let the bun down to just a single braid for the journey, and then curl it back up into a bun and reinsert the stick when I reach the destination. :) It's not perfect, but it's comfortable and fairly easy.

I wear top knots. Super easy and comfortable.

Thank you, Madora. I didn't know about lace crowns, I think it's something I could handle and it looks so pretty. It looks a lot better than the video the other day on the forum where the hairdresser just braided all the hair on one side and messed it up on purpose, and then didn't tuck the tassel in to hide it or anything. Anyway, the Lilith crown braid looks very delicate and pretty.

My new favourite style for air travel is a split sockbun centered right above the crown. It's super comfy for sitting up or reclining and doesn't look disheveled, even after long international flights.

I'm a nursing mother, so I am frequently sitting in my recliner chair. I usually put my hair up in a loose top knot so it won't hinder me leaning back against the chair.

I feel the same -car chairs aren't constructed in a hair stick usable way:D
