has anyone used Lush's Caca Brun over hennaed hair? After the past 8 months of hennaing my hair is a pretty vibrant red, but the upkeep and hennaing taking so long between prep time and the process itself, I'm looking for a faster way to do it. I've
I thought of just using the Rouge instead, but I'm one of those "I want something different all the time" people and am dyeing(couldn't help the pun haha) to go brown again. Since my hair is hennaed red and my roots are about 2 inches long and dark blonde, what will my color outcome be?

I've used it. It's not faster than regular henna, and it acts more like a tint or gloss.
The outcome will probably be a browny auburn. You'll have to use it every month if you want it to stay that colour. I found that it fades fast.

I think one of the issues I'm having with the BAQ henna is the set up time it takes to get it to stain, it drives me nuts waiting for it LOL (maybe I'm too impulsive.. haha) As it is I'm having to henna my hair every 3-4 weeks to upkeep my roots since my hair grows very fast.
I still don't understand how they make the indigo work in lush's henna? I suppose through some sort of chemical process they could change the structure of how it works so it is timed with the henna in it? I guess that explains why it fades so fast.
Maybe it fading so fast since I'm being so indecisive about my hair lately anyway... haha I've thought of going back blonde again as well. However, the line from my roots is very harsh and noticeable from where I have hennaed and where I havent.

I used Brun a few times over Marron, and it was always very red on me, I've read you can get less red by not covering your head with plastic wrap, which I tried but even then it was quite red. Also, Caca Noir wasn't even close to black, I got a weird ashy greeny haze over the red.
I loved Caca Marron, my hair felt strong and lustrous, never a hint of roots, and the color took evenly all along my length the whole 2 years I used it. I couldn't get any brown tones at all though.
As for how your roots might take it, I can't say for sure, dark blonde sounds rather light to be trying shades with indigo. You might well end up with a line using a Caca, I think all the cocoa butter which makes them so moisturizing also inhibits really strong dyeing of hair, also you already have very red ends which won't be changed much by a single Caca app, you'll need to do it several times and even then it might not change much. But Cacas seem to wash out better than straight henna.

well crud!!!!!
Why arent there more products available out there yet that are more natural for hair dye??? lol I always thought of going to manic panic route too, but their colors are a little too intense for me.
aahhhhh I can't decide what to do now!

you can still experiment using henna and other herbs in your own mix like a super strong gloss. click here http://www.hennaforhair.com/mixes/ for recipes for lots of shades, over on the right are the browns. But keep your natural shade in mind, because the lightness will always affect how subsequent applications stick to your hair. I know from experience ;)
I understand the appeal of caca's though, because they're all ready mixed and the Marron especially smells divine, like coffee and rosemary. I think Lush shops are designed to make you high off all the fumes from their products!

hahah yes! they are!!!! I'm shocked I didn't impulsively buy one of the caca's already!
I use the lemon juice/henna let it sit overnight method to prep my henna. Is there a much faster way that I can still achieve decent results without letting it sit overnight? I've read so much mixed information it's hard to tell what I should do!

I've read that dye released henna freezes well, so you can do a big load of it, then freeze in small containers (however much you usually use for an application) or you can freeze in icecube trays and have little dollops for glosses, maybe to refresh color just a bit rather than a full strength app. Glosses would also blur that line from virgin to already-hennaed but still give shine and strength.

I froze my henna into 4 snap lock bags. The dye release was great, and application was super easy because I just cut off the corner of the bag and piped it onto my head. It keeps for months frozen and it's easy because you can just prepare 1 batch ever few months. Easy!
I've used lush henna and the preperation is so much more difficult than BAQ henna.

thanks ladies :) you've convinced me to give the BAQ another shot. Freezing it will definitely help!

Be careful with the Lush Caca brun, it can be quite intense! My last henna 2 weeks ago was with this, over previously chemically colored hair with 3 applications of BAQ Henna. It went from vibrant red to a dark DARK but very glossy warm dark brown. Did I mention it was a DARK brown? Not quite black. I wash my hair daily and there is no sign of fading. At all. I do find the prep time much quicker with the lush cacas. If your hair is a dark blonde I'd probably go with the marron if you want a browner hue. There is no going back with indigo, so if the brun sticks and is darker than you want, you are stuck with it....

Sorry but I LOL at this a tint??? Your having a laugh lush is pure BAQ henna the brun is mixed with indigo, there's nothing tint like about it, I should know its took me nearly 2 years to get it out of my hair! Do not enter into ANY kind of product that contains henna lightly , learn by my experience!

Here here! Though it can be removed in exceptional circumstances from memory only 3 members of LHC have removed hendigo form hair, I being one of them! It's not an easy task, indigo is the beast of dyes, it holds on for sheer life once you have it on, unless of course your lucky like me!:D

For the record lush uses BAQ henna, it's from Iraq, there's no metallic salts in their products

I must say there is something about the Lush Cacas that seems to leave my hair glossier than BAQ henna, maybe it's the cocoa butter, not sure. I think they can be quite variable though. There are a lot if people who seem to get next to no colour deposit, and last time I used Brun it didn't go this dark, although it did result in a true brown. I suspect it's the indigo component- from what I know indigo can be temperamental ( I've always been too scared to use it on it's own). There does not seem to be the variation in colour result with the Rouge from what I've read on various boards/ product feedback.

This ^.
It took me multiple applications of colour B4, bleaching and then more colour B4 to get this stuff out. And then it still stuck around as a greenish tint on a previously bleached streak.
And I have just used used it again, (100grams of rouge and 300grams of noir mixed) thinking over this bright colour below I would end up with a brown that shone red.... nope. Jet black like a ravens wing :)
Go easy on the lush indigo stuff unless you want black, it works!!

Forgot you was another who managed to remove it, it's a pain in the bum! Sure it looks nice, I'm so glad i stopped using it when I did, my hair did feel nice but it does get darker and darker, removing it was the most frustrating thing I ever went through with my hair, the green stage is horrible, multiple removing sessions got rid of it, but it did bring me put in a sweat! I am keeping a huge distance between me and any henna/ indigo product from now on! It doesn't help that the lush sales people actually tod me it would wash out within 2 months, bull poo it does not!
