BIG thank you to the wonderful Luxepiggy for recommending a PVA towel to me. I ordered one, and it came yesterday. I used it, and it helped a LOT. Curlies/wavies, forget the microfibre towel - THIS is what you need.

http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/c0.0.403.403/p403x403/479948_4371981818129_1274650955_n.jpg

I used it by scrunching upwards on soaking wet hair. Not too much, just enough to not have my hair dripping all over me. It removed the water without frizzing my hair or destroying the curl pattern.

And my hair yesterday made me very happy. It was defined and shiny when it first dried. I done a final rinse with deoinised water when I co-washed. I am still recovering from the heat damage, a lot of curls have reverted, but there are a few I think never will;

But this one at the front was very loose before, and now it's a ringlet again!

My hair got bigger as the day went on, which pleased me a lot :) I am starting to realise that my hair is thicker than I thought. I always envied other curly girls with big, curly hair, but I'm starting to realise I can have big curly hair naturally. It just depends how my hair feels that day

Also, my hair is finally starting to show some curly length! It comfortably reaching my shoulders and hangs a little bit down my back at the back. Yay :cheese:
I wear this updo to work now. I like it. I think it's funky ;-)

And this was my good hair day hair when it first dried.

It held pretty well through a 7.50 closing shift at Starbucks, a journey home on the London underground and gym :) not too much frizz and curls still defined. The gym made my hair tangled/dry, though, even though it was up. No idea why :/

Anyway, that's everything I wanted to cover. Thanks for reading/looking!

Oh! Look at those lovely spirals.

I'm only a 2a but I'm quite tempted to order one of these now.

So do you just bend forward, scrunch hair and wrap newly-washed hair in it? Hope that's not a stupid question.

Thank you :D

And it'll be good for 2As too! In fact, I would even go so far as to say every hair type could find a use for it. It's very absorbant, so can cut drying time for everyone.

Not a stupid question at all! I bend forward, rinse hair out and scrunch with the towel. However, I don't wrap my hair in it.

Curl and shine jealous, man! I'll have to look into the PVA towels.

Maybe the air in the gym was too dry or something?

I just ordered one of these, thanks for the tip :) for anyone else looking, I got mine cheaply from amazon - it is aimed at campers

ETA: can anyone offer a comparison to microfibre towel? I currently use a microfibre turban, but anything to improve drying time and reduce frizz is worth a try :)

Your hair is amazing!

Why do these towels work? Are these the ones you can get in the automotive section at wal-mart?

I don't know about wal-mart as i've never been, but yes they sell them for drying cars - they are man-made chamois leathers!

SO gorgeous! I'm hoping once I get a little longer I can stop fighting the curl like I have been for so many years and start plopping/scrunching and maybe my ringlets will come back. Maybe if I cross my fingers and wish on a star I'll end up with a full head of ringlets again.

Ooh, I had never heard of those! It seems the results were great ^-^ I've been using and old cotton t-shirt to absorb the excess water from my hair, but I'm curious to try that ne out from the results you got ^-^ gorgeous curls btw

I went to Wal-mart and checked out the auto chamois.

I don't think so. The one's sold for cars shed a lot and I can imagine having little bits of yellow stuck in my hair.

My guess is that the OP's version is the same material, but made so that it can be used as a body towel, ie a tighter "weave".

The one i have is made for cars and works really well, no fibre comes off it - it kind of feels like a really flat super dense silky sponge! I havn't gone back to microfibre since I got my PVA, it works so much better

It's funny...we all have weather to deal with..but you have just reminded me what the London underground can do to your hair! That is one whole extra hurdle! Lol!

Your hair is sooo thud-worthy! And you yourself are so incredibly pretty (sorry if I'm having a bit of a girlcrush moment here!)
I'm interested to see how good this towel is, I have a microfibre one myself (got it from Go Outdoors, the hiking store) and sometimes I feel like using an old t-shirt does just as good a job, maybe even better. So I'm kind of on the market to try something like what you got.

Was it something like this (http://www.amazon.com/Aqua-Sphere-Dry-Towel/dp/B000ENQT3U/ref=sr_1_1?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1347367743&sr=1-1&keywords=pva+towel)?

Your curls are gorgeous! *hair envy*

That is exactly what I would love my own curls to do. Some are tight spirals, others wavy and even others almost straight! Drives me crazy!

I just found the one she got on amazon. It's a Rufus and coco pet drying towel. It's about $15 and it's prime if you are eligible for that.
