OK, don't laugh :p I know it's wonky & scruffy, and it looks like it's eating my head! BUT this is 100% pin free! Just a ponytail elastic at the base & the actual sock is holding it up, I'm quite impressed with myself :D Will have to do some more practice & get it a bit neater (and smaller, lol!)

No matter how I do it I have to have pins in it. Of course I use the conair bun maker because that's how I learned how to to it, but it's the same thing just different materials.

Thanks MaryMarx :) Demi-Plum, I used an actual sock for this, not a thick one, as I was rolling it up I was sure it was all going wrong coz I had a big, puffy load of hair by the ponytail elastic, but I just kept rolling it & by the time it reached my head it was really secure!

It's very comfy & surprisingly easy! I am hair styling challenged & was ready for this to be an epic fail, but was pleasantly surprised :)

It looks great, Sarelis! I've managed to get a sock bun done to sleep in on a few occasions without pins and they do hold really well, don't they? It surprised me how secure it felt.

Mine looked much scruffier than yours though. I've tried it several times since and I just can't get it to look even close to as nice as yours does. My arms get so tired long before its halfway down my length :(

Mine always looks much messier, and my first attempt was like something out of an old doctor who episode. Yours looks fantastic!

This inspired me to make my first sock bun too! Attempt #3 was a win!:)

Try pulling up on the bun as you are rolling it to make the bun a bit smaller. Or use a kids sock, that works for me! (very thin hair...)

Thanks, will try that today (bolded), not sure if I will get all my hair thru a kiddie sock tho!
