Ok. I love old fashioned styles, Edwardian, Victorian, those styles which make you look like you have HEAPS of hair.

Firstly I separate about a 1 inch strand of hair off above each ear and keep it separate until later.

Then I take all the back hair as if I am going to put a hair curler in it, I hold the socks at the end and roll it up with the socks inside against the back of my head.(Can put 1 sock inside the other) and pin to the scalp hair using bobby pins. If you can see the ends of the socks on the sides - and you probably will, just spread the hair from the back roll around the sides to cover, smooth it and pin it against the top of the roll also.

It doesn't matter if you have some little curly bits sticking out I don't think, it adds to the charm.

Then - take your side pieces that you had set aside, comb them out, then roll the ends into a curl, and loosely pin the curl just above the roll at the back of the head. Repeat on other side. Place a fresh flower in the middle.

You could probably make the side pieces into braids and pin them back, that would look pretty too.

For you lucky ladies with long hair, well, you don't need the socks, lol. HTH Meishkamooshka!

BTW, those sock curls look lovely! Might have to try that myself, although this style gives nice curls too at the end of the day.

Am not too keen on sock buns myself, they look a bit too regimented for me, I prefer softer more romantic styles.

#10 Ummm.. Cord Cozy?

Two nights ago I wrapped up and stuffed the cord to my new iron in a tube sock to keep my kittycat, Bosco, from chewing on it. Since we adopted her we lost 2 phone cords, 2 ethernet cords, maybe three coaxial cord to and from the tv/box/antenna, and one phone charger. There are also chew marks in the ipod cord, imac cord, etc.. She is a little neurotic (who isn't??) but a sweetie!

At least she doesn't chew my fingers while I am sleeping anymore. Guess I could have used socks to break her of that, too.

So far, my sock cozy has kept the cord on the new iron safe!

I take old socks and put in a mixture of cornflour, bi-carb soda (what the US calls baking soda) dried lavender, and a few drops of EO of choice. Tie off the neck, and voila, shoe freshener!

Those trainer socks which cover literally just the foot are good for putting over the bottom of muddy shoes/shoes which are being stored.

We use baby socks/slippers to put on our dogs paws when they are muddy/soggy!!

A quick sweater for your freezing baby chihuahua. Just cut arm holes and cut one end off. I've used both the tube (when my chi was tiny) and later the foot part. If you leave a little bit of the ribbing on the foot part it will act like a turtle neck.

Fold the socks in half so that the toe end is against the other end , that gives you the length, then just moosh it into like a sausage shape before you roll the hair up around it as if it is a hair curler. I use 2 socks, but you probably don't need two with all your hair. So you start off with flat sock(s), fold in half, then make into sausage shape, then roll hair. :)

Have you tried doing it without the socks, as you have so much more hair than me, you may not need the volume that the socks provide? But I still think it looks lovely on you - and such a lovely flower. If I can't find a fresh one, there are some lovely artificial ones available these days.

Put on the end of a broom or mop to clean ceiling fan blades, cobwebs, etc.

Makeshift boots for children: put plastic bags over their regular shoes, then put old men's socks over the whole thing, including bags and pull up over their legs...may not look too cute, but effective for kids who absolutely MUST get out and play in the snow :-) My mom used to do this all the time when I was little (we didn't have much money).

Thank you! I like how it looked in pictures, but unfortunately it came out really fast. I think my hair may be too heavy or I did something wrong so it wasn't fastening very well. I do like the effect, though, especially from the side! I can see how the sock comes in handy!

When I didn't have those special brown glass bottles for doing a rosemary oil infusion, I used a sock to cover a jar so the light couldn't get inside so much and spoil it :)
