View Full Version : Putting your hair in rollers, using a dryer, then blow drying?

People at salons say this decreases damage to your hair by putting less direct heat on it when it's wet-
When it's wet, you put it in rollers, stay under the dryer until its dry, then take out the rollers and use a brush/blow dryer to make your hair strands straight.
Does anyone actually follow this method? If so, does your hair seem less damaged from it than just using a dryer/brush when it's wet (what I've always done)?

Yes, this is what we longhaired ladies did back in the 1960s-70s (when hooded hair dryers were the norm, pre-blow dryers). The heat is ever so much less intense and thus gentler on the hair.
I'd daresay, we suffered no damage whatsoever from this method, i.e. without use of the blowdryer.

Hmm the only people I have ever put under a dryer with a roller set on was cute old ladies :)
They just like it brushed out, teased, smoothed, and sprayed.
I have never had to use a blow dryer afterwards to make it right.
I want a dryer at home SO bad. I would put my hair in rollers and let it dry under the air. I would probably use it for my SMTs too. And henna. I have been trying to get one

Over here you can get those from beauty supply stores. Don't know how it is where you are, though. :)

I want an old school one! When we were in school, my friend got to take one home for free :) She wanted to paint it all cool. Id rather nab one than have to pay full price.

Aha I so would. It has been one of my on going goals. Maybe once I start working again I will come across one. Wouldn't that be so nice to have one? You could style your hair in any curly way possible with minimum damage!
