I'm reading a book set in the 1100s and one of the characters looses one of her braid fillets. According to what I can find out in the book, they are made of silver, have some sort of pattern on them and were worn at the ends of the braid.

Does anyone know what they are, what they look like or how they were worn?

Maybe this will help you out some. It seems to be having to do with braiding already since antiquity and even mesopotamia.

Check here the Assyrian braid:

It names a fillet also.

Looks like it refers to the band that is put around the headdress. Hope this helped you some :)

Couldn't read a book which mentions a hair toy without finding out what it was!
