View Full Version : Hair typing method?

I want to get my hair typed, but wondered how to let it dry and not influence the strands. Do you just de-tangle in the shower, and not put it in a towel? because when I put my hair up in a towel or turbie twist it then has a bit of wave to the hair. Then how do you sit to let it dry for multiple hours? Just put a towel down your back and not sit? Sorry, for all the questions, I just can't figure it out and the search does not want to work for me today. I have knee length hair since that will make a difference.

I would blot the excess water from your hair with a towel - just squeeze it lightly, don't rub - then let it air dry without interfering with it again. Sit outside and read a book if you can. :)

If detangling in the shower works for you, great, otherwise you can detangle with a wide-toothed comb after you've blotted with a towel.

Hope that makes sense. I'm getting over a bad cold and feel like my brain is full of snot. Gah!

It makes sense. You are saying not to turban my hair, just dry by squeezing and let it drip. The hardest part will be not playing with my hair!

Yes, that's not easy. Try to distract yourself and/or keep your hands busy with something else. Knitting's good! :)

I brushed / combed BEFORE showering. I was super gentle with my hair when washing with a clarifying shampoo.
I then got out of the shower and placed a thick towel round my shoulders, and under my hair and did not touch, comb etc, it one bit.
My previous attempt, I blotted my hair and my hair ended up so much different, a 1a/b. without touching, it was amazing sweeping seeing my hair spring up between the et and damp stages.

I think that the straighter your hair is, the more strict you have to be about hair typing. ANY handling post shower or detangling in shower WILL affect the result.

As soon as your hair is dry and pic taken, re wet and condition though wsp with your hair being knee length.

Good luck

Ok, so I used Nutrogena Clarifying shampoo, and ACV Rinse, Sat in the sun and read till it was dry, and here are my pics.

So any ideas on my Hair type?

I'm also thinking 2a. You might even be waiver but you length probably stretches the waves out a bit. It's gorgeous no matter what type it is though :).

Thank you all.
Since it is a split decision, 1c/2a it is :D

Initially I thought 1b, although looking at your ends I would assume if your hair was shorter that it'd look more 1c or 2a :) It's so pretty, it reminds me of my hair, straight then jumps to 2a halfway down xD

I say 1c. 1b + 2a = 1c. :D

Well you have much more than 1 definite wave so I would put you at a 2a also. Very pretty hair :)

(1b's have no visible wave whatsoever.)
