I have been looking at my old hair photos and although it has seemed a long road, in more ways than one! I've actually come quite a journey in 5 years.

Here's my hair when I first joined, air dried and all virgin. I feel quite happy at my growth now!

My avatar is my first picture...so I can readily see where I've come from, and not get too discouraged at the slowness of growing!

If I could, I would tell myself then not to trim until hitting goal. I trimmed way to much the last couple of years, probably unnecessarily.

This was the day I joined (braidwaves in this pic), but I cut off 2-3 inches the same day because I thought my ends looked bad. I had been lurking, but had no clue that a hemline gets fairytale ends when you don't cut. :) I'm now about 0.5 from classic, but still with the same deep U hemline. Actually looking at my siggy it looks like I haven't gained anything in 1.5yrs! Then again my hair was straight in the first pic and wavy in my siggy. LOL

In both cases it has been brushed straight, but the in the newest picture it was very freshly washed, it never looks as sleek when it isn't a little bit oily. The apparent change in colour is mostly caused by different lighting, but my hair has lightened a little bit. Oh, and it's also about 15 inches longer ;)

I was already natural and knew how to care for my hair before LHC, but here are some pics of my hair before I went natural (various pics throughout the years). As you can see, it was in awful condition :/

Sorry for the size of the pics (they're off FB, so I can't resize) and the amount, but I just wanna show how crap my hair was before I went natural. I wish I'd have gone natural before, then I'd be at my goal, and likely beyond, by now. Can you believe, I had no idea what my natural hair was like because I always blowfried it, never let it air dry and treated it really badly?

I remember HAAAAAATING this top picture when it was taken, I look sort of pudgy, you know? Now I look at that woman with a lot more compassion. I mean, she DID have a baby a month before that picture was shot! And three before that! And that is the OLDEST baby's birthday cake! :laugh: Sheesh. Only a jerk would judge a woman in those shoes for a bit o' pudginess.

Apparantly it is pretty easy to be a jerk to yourself. Passage of time softens judgment.

Wow what lovely photos, we have all come a long way either in growth or/and condition . My hair was much shorter than this when I first started out, this is the day I had my hair cut by a hairdresser that thought this was mid back, I was previously nearly waist! Strange how different my colour looks in different lights, I look so sad in this photo

It seems like a long time ago, although growing through that abyss of chin to APL took forever! Since BSL it's seemed to go much faster. It helps to be short-waisted--BSL to waist only took a few months, lol.

Ha, not so much. It looks good in pictures because it's been carefully detangled. That only lasts a few minutes. :p Anyway, I almost never wear it down in public (and if I did, it sure as heck wouldn't look that good--more like I'd been in a wind tunnel). But thank you! :)

Actually the first picture was taken just days after removing 3" of damaged ends. As you can see I've gone from being a light golden blonde to a silvery platinum. The silver matches my own silver, which is coming in a bit faster now, very well. I've even got a few silver eyebrows. I've kept the underneath dark natural panel. I've had to go to layers due to health problems. It's much easier for me to care for with layers than all one length.

It's nice looking at all the pictures . I do hope more of the older members post pics.

It makes me miss my hair. I got to waist length but a hospital stay really kept me from being able to care for how damaged my length was and the damage traveled up my hair shaft so I had to cut it to shoulder in January. :( Plus this makes me miss having dark hair. I'm trying to grow out my natural colour right now.

Thank you Firefly for your kind words. Well I did take good care of my hair before joining the forum, and a blow dryer and other heat tools have never worked for me. My hair is so heavy than a blow dryer do no good so I never use that so I guess am lucky with my hair and my habits.

What's funny is that my hair is not really that much longer now because I've already been to knee and cut way back to classic in that time. The main difference is that I condition a lot better than I used to, and I stopped fighting with it to make it straight.

I joined LHC in the summer of 2004. The first picture I have is from August the same year - crappy picture quality, but here you go. My hair was trashed from bleach and permanent color followed by several rounds of semi-permanent dye to cover up the brassy mess. Combed as straight as it ever gets.

I don't have a picture from June 2005 when I first joined. My hair was about BSL and had a lot of heat damage. In October 2005 I decided to stop fighting with my hair and have the worst of the heat damage cut out. Here is the result:

I had JUST cut off about 4 inches. It was supremely damaged from dying it blonde, the ends felt like straw honestly. It was bad. This was Jan of 10'.

Just to show how far I came in a little over a year from that first pic with trims and TLC and my first Cassia treatment...and how bad it really was at first.
