What type is my hair? Come to think of it, what colour is my hair?

Hi! :)

I can't figure out the different classifications of hair thickness. Here's my hair just getting to APL...

Also, my friend reckons that my hair has some red in it. I can see it under certain lights, but I don't know if "red under certain lights"= red. Here is one shot that shows the colours I think she's referring to:

Anyway, can anyone give an estimate of hair type? And comments on the colour?

To get your hair typed correctly you need to clarify, not touch it and air dry....

did you do that?

You need to let your hair airdry without touching it to get hairtyped, so I can't help you there from these pictures.

As far as color, yours is pretty similar to mine, and my hair color is chestnut. That's a warm brown with red undertones or highlights.

As far as the different hair thicknesses... they're just a case of measure your ponytail. If your ponytail is less than 2", you're a i. Between 2" and 4" you're a ii. More than 4", you're a iii. Where you see people typing as ii/iii, they're using an expanded system to get 1" increments.

The main reason why you care about a thickness measure is to work out what updos you might be able to do. Someone who has a 4" ponytail will get totally pissed off and frustrated if they try to do styles at the same length where a someone with a 2" ponytail can. With 4" of thickness, it can take an extra foot or more of length to do a given style.

For the color, I'd say a warm brunette. Very pretty, too!

Regarding color, "kastanj" instantly came to my mind. The swedish word for chestnut. :)

chestnut. Pretty, and shiny! I bet you are a wavy, maybe very wavy with unbrushed/untreated hair. Mine kinda looks like that if it's wavy, then brushed...but without proper hairtyping pics it is hard to say.

I'd call your colour a rich chestnut very pretty, as for hair type do the clarifying thing and post some more photos, your hair looks pretty thick to me and I'd give my right arm for that thick hemilne
