Awesomely beautiful. Wow! Any hints on how to get one's hair to grow so fast. I feel like mine only grows 1/4 of an inch per month, - just enough to make it necessary to color it!

Check out my profile. It states everything I'm doing. I'm honestly surprised myself ;x
Secrets? Well, mainly eat healthy, exercise, condition, no heat, fish oil supplements from a GOOD quality source (always get vitamins from health food stores).

Your hair looks lovely! The picture makes it look kind of a candy pink color to me, but I know by your sig it isn't. It looks so soft and happy though.
With the fish oil...do you get...fish burps? X.x my husband used to take those pills as a kid, and he really put me off them.

Make sure you use a good brush. My old brush tore up my hair, and that's why I had to cut some today!! Now I have a soft boar brush. It doesn't rip my hair.

I found a pic of around the time I got my hair cut! I was vegan for a year and my hair started falling out and thinning. Now I'm veggie but I eat fish and pasture raised butters, eggs, raw cheese. Feeling much better! ;D

Thats awesome! I love seeing the photos of the shorter hair since I am short right now, its more encouraging to me.LOL. It sounds like your hair loves protein since its doing so much better since adding more protein in your diet. I am going to go buy some whey protein because of you! What kind do you get, and how do you eat it/what do you mix it with? I have never measured my hair growth before, but being pregnant or nursing for the past 4 years I have had ups and downs with my hair, its super thick and thin and chemical damage and heat damage to much healthier, but still dealing with splits and other things from that. I was having allergy issues as well, so I feel like my body is much healthier all around getting that under control, but I cant eat a lot of protein sources because of it. I found yogurt with sliced almonds as a good snack this last week. I am not drinking milk because it upsets my tummy too much, but yogurt seems to be ok so thats nice. I would be ecstatic if I can get that kind of growth too. I am scheduled to get my hair cut in a month then I will start posting photos, but as of right now it looks like I am getting just over 1/4 inch a week. Hopefully that equals out to just over an inch. Oh and I have been wanting to do fish oils for a long time, but just never have. When I can I am going to get some of that too, not just for my hair, but for how great they are for you too.

** I meant it has been super thick, then super thin, due to my hormone changes. I feel like now that I havent been nursing for a few months and I have been without dye in several months things are finally getting back to more normal with me!

It's been almost 6 months everyone. It's almost july. ;D I would say this is slightly faster than my normal rate.
I've always ate healthfully, but taking fish oils and whey protein shakes from grass fed isn't everything. I wish. haha but the reality is, growing your hair out needs a combination of things that I do for my health, which shows up in my hair. I don't drink dairy from cows btw, and I don't recommend it unless it's organic and raw. I do love goats milk raw though. I know the source, and it's tested, too. It's not a staple, and I only have it as a treat every now and then. I do LOVE goat yogurt, plain, organic, pasture fed. It's real healthy for your GI compared to cows yogurt. My diet is simple, back to nature.
Fish oils-- I take 2000-3000 mg of the Spectrum brand at whole foods/day. I also sometimes take a multivitamin, as well.
I make sure I get enough sun. It's so essential, and many people don't realize how important it is. Simple, eh? ;-P
Also, I don't color with harmful chemicals. I also don't use heat or chemicals on my hair.

Yeah it stinks that no one here does raw milk.. the closest is 2 hrs away, so too much to pay for milk with gas prices and too far away to go each month with 2 little kids just for milk. We did raw goat milk but none of us can stand it and honestly everyone around here doesnt treat their goats like I would want them to be treated. I already eat healthy, but I was looking up how much protein I am suppose to get in a day and I find that I am low still which is why I think the whey protein would be a good idea for me to add. Plus I never use to like almonds, but now I love them!

Have you ever tried almond milk or coconut milk? They are much better for you than regular dairy. Honestly, I think it's nice of you to think of the animals wellfare. I'm like that also. I go to the farm, check the animals, bond with them, see the conditions, etc.
Protein-- There is protein in just about everything. But, it varies with what is your body absorbs. Plant protein is not as available as animal sources (fish, meat, eggs, etc). Check out this article about the plant protein info http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/products/vegetarian-diet.php It's good to know if you were looking for plant sources. Steaming certain veggies (kale, swiss chard, broc, spinch, etc) makes protein more absorbable though! Also, steaming helps to reduce the oxalates, phytates that can inhibit other nutrients.

Congratulations on your lovely hair and the fantastic growth you are getting SurferB. That is awesome.
Just a side note, for some of the newer members. SurferB is having some great growth, there is no doubt about it. Her hair looks lovely and is growing at a very good rate. It may be tempting to try and change your diet around to match hers or exercise as often as her. Now, I won't say that making those changes wouldn't be good and healthy and it certainly couldn't hurt but it won't guarantee you hair growth like Miss SurferB. She is very obviously very blessed in the hair growth department and probably has some good hair growing genetics that help her out along the way.
I just don't want anyone to get the idea that there is some magic trick that you can do to get hair growth like this and be disappointed if it is unobtainable. We are all working with our genetics and some of us, no matter how healthy we eat, no matter how much we exercise, no matter how carefully we treat our hair we will grow at an average rate, or we will grow slowly and that is okay too. The real trick is just patience.
Now back to your regularly scheduled program of "You go!" and, "Fabulous Hair" because it is deserved and because I don't want to hijack the thread. Congratulations again SurferB on some really beautiful hair and your wonderful growth spurt.

My hair doesn't grow exactly that fast, but pretty close.
I really really think this growth has to do with FISH. The only meat I eat is fish too. :P And the rest quite similar to what you said, salads/fruits/veggies/eggs,etc... except I don't like any kind of dairy, I eat yogurts and such very rarely. I only like a type of unsalted low fat cheese, a local product, but even that I rarely eat, 1/2 servings per month.
I'll post pics of my hair in 6 months :)

I'd beg to differ on that one. My hair grows fast (.5" in two weeks this month) and I am a vegetarian - I.E - I eat no meat at all.
I think it has more to do with genetics than inclusion/exclusion of animals in your diet.

I agree with this. I have been a vegetarian - no meat, or fish (if you eat fish you're a piscatarian, sorry to be pedantic but it is the correct term) - for 5 years and there has been no difference in growth, other than now I don't dye my hair a different colour every 5 minutes :p My hair and skin were worse when I ate meat and I've always looked after my skin if not always my hair.
I don't think over doing it on the exercise does much for hair growth either. I can't see how it really can. Keep fit by all means, but I'm not going to the gym when I spend all day on my feet at work anyway ;)

I've seen and read many posts from others on this site about making significant changes to lifestyle and hair care routines but none have grown hair this fast. I just wanted to point out that even if this is for real it has little to do with food or exercise. Genetics, genetics and genetics. Plus a splash of youth. All of us have a growth rate that varies over time. Taking good care of the hair that's grown out will help. Putting good food into the body will help. Nothing will alter the growth rate dramatically.
Edit:
Pregnancy lol. Ok, that makes a difference for most of us.

You're right, even if it's marketed as a "natural" dye it's still bleaching the hair so it must contain peroxide.

Yup this. Anything that lightens the colour of your hair IS a bleach (a lot of people dispute this, but if you look up the definition of "bleach" you'll see that it's true). Anything that removes colour from hair, no matter how natural, IS going to do some amount of damage (even honey lightening, which is said to be very gentle, has caused hair damage in those with fragile hair).

I don't think anyone was disputing whether the method used to lighten was natural or not either, just pointing out that lightening is, by definition, bleaching and therefore one should still expect some damage.

See how at the very bottom she's got a layer? The hair is a lot darker there and just doesn't seem to blend. It's especially apparent in the second to last picture. Is that what everyone else is talking about?

I see very light blonde fairy tale ends and then just a couple of inches of blunt darker blonde ends underneath. If those are extensions, they don't really add much length though. I guess they add fullness, which is nice and looks pretty good. It's hard for me to identify extensions because so many people have layers and different highlights and lowlights.

I agree with this, looks like extensions to me. It looks good (I personally have nothing against extensions) although if they are extensions then I think the purpose of this thread is a little confusing and sad.
Also, there is no way to go from brunette hair to blonde (especially that blonde) without some form of bleach. No honey or lemon lightening is going to give results like this. Whether it be in a box or tube of dye, or a bleach/developer mix, there will always be some form of hydrogen peroxide used to remove color. I really don't think honey, lemon or anything "natural" could ever give these results. But I would love to be proven wrong too:D

I saw another thread started by the OP where she said she had gone to the salon and had it color treated there, with bad results. Sounds like she is changing her story... She said in this thread she only used natural dye. Maybe they put in extensions when she got it dyed at the salon....

Did you stop there or were you able to get a pale blonde like the OP claims to have done? I really do try to keep an open mind about things, but going from brunette to platinum (emphasis on platinum) blonde with anything other than bleach just seems unlikely to me.
I'm really not trying to argue:flower:. I'm just curious.

I definitely understand! ^^ I mostly just lightened up with honey to bring out some of the red in the very dark parts of my hair. It successfully lightened up the lighter parts, too.
I agree that it's probably not likely that honey can drastically lighten hair from brown to white-blonde, though I could be wrong, I'd imagine it would take a LOT of treatments to do so if it were possible. Honey does still have peroxide in it, though, so it's definitely possible to lighten...as far as how much you can, though, I'm not sure.

Yes, it would take A LOT of treatments to make such a drastic change from brown to pale blonde......if it's possible at all (which I have my doubts about). And to be honest, I would never have the patience to try it out lol.

No, I don't dye my bottom layer and that's why it looks darker. I like the look of having my natural color at the bottom. I do not have extensions. I don't like the idea of having glue in my roots.

She said she was a natural dark blond, and her avatar is light blonde, so she did mean that she naturally lightened her her i think...
Yes, I use natural dyes from whole foods to lighten or darken my hair. I don't dye my bottom half because 1. I usually only have enough natural dye in one box to cover my top half 2. I like the look. I also like using lemon, honey, teas, etc to lighten my hair.
However, despite what others have said about exsentions, I don't have them! IDK why anyone would state that I have some fake hair glued to my head ;-P

There's a brand of "Naturals" I believe it's called. That's what I use. I get it from wholefoods. IDK how "natural" or gentle it is. But I know my hair never feels dry or damaged after using it often. It probably has some form of peroxcide.

Can you post the ingredients of the dye please? I'm also interested. I highlight my hair and while I don't ever plan on stopping, I am curious if there are other options that will give me the same results (pale blonde color).
ETA: Oh ok I see. So the brand of dye is called "Naturals". Not to mean that the method of lightening your hair is "natural". Ok, that makes more sense. I would bet it does have hydrogen peroxide in it:)

Unfortunately, I don’t buy your story about the extensions. If you hold up your second picture (the one with the markers) next to one of the last two, you’ll notice the darker hair grew INCHES while the lighter hair barely grew at all. This makes no sense to me. Also, you mentioned you don’t dye your underlayer and that’s why it’s darker. In your first picture since you’re facing the camera, you can see your underlayer. It is platinum blonde, which contradicts your statement. If you’re wearing extensions, I’d say they’re clip-ins. With clip-ins you can put them in further down the scalp to make it look like it’s growing. Sorry if this seems harsh, but I hate seeing people mislead.

I'm a very fast grower already (1 to 1 1/2 inches per month), but I recently started to take fish oil because I dislike fish other than salmon or tuna. My kids and I are taking them, I'll post results if I get more growth than regular! I do drink milk, I love drinking milk and dairy products.
I live in SoCal, I get more than enough sun too though. I'm hoping DH gets transferred to COLD weather. Maybe I'd be less of a vampire there and go back to enjoying summers again :(.

Nothing is right about that picture. The whole thing is off. The ends are so.. well I almost said ratty. Well I say it. Of course they are, since the underlayer is fake.

My daughter's hair bleaches on the sun. Her hair is lighter on the top, and darker on the bottom. She's 2.

Thank you for sharing your insights, it's helpful to me because I don't automatically realize that people even use extensions. Now I don't feel so inadequate that my hair isn't growing at a superfast rate even though I'm taking care of myself as best I know how. I'm new here, and didn't wish to raise my concerns as I thought it would be terribly bad form. However, I'm sorry to say I have doubts about the OP's claims, and based on the pics I'm inclined to agree that it does rather look like extensions, also the pictures look somewhat edited to my inexpert eyes.
OP, if I am wrong I apologise, and I will subsequently withdraw my comments, however with such spectacular growth claims (this appears to be almost foot in 5 months), might I suggest some better quality pics would clarify the situation? This may be a problem of perception which can be remedied easily.

If any of the accusations are wrong, sorry OP.
I just want to throw one more example of how genetics are so important. I have a before and after photo in my album - I think it's from October to February. Anyways, I hit a huge growth spurt and everyone seemed impressed with the growth. I have no tricks. I eat like crap, don't exercise, take no vitamins, drink less than a glass a water a week. .. And yet my hair seems to still grow somewhat fast and healthy.
I'm working on getting healthy. But I just wanted to point out that nutrition and fitness isn't everything.

I saw another thread started by the OP where she said she had gone to the salon and had it color treated there, with bad results. Sounds like she is changing her story... She said in this thread she only used natural dye. Maybe they put in extensions when she got it dyed at the salon....
I am confused. Is this salon dye, or a box from whole foods, or honey lightening or what?

This would be a good idea. If they are not extensions then simply photograph the underlayers with the resit of the length showing that there is no clips ect. It is sad that the OP should have to do this, but unfortunately with such extreme claims people will doubt and I can understand ;)

I am actually a bit concerned. You have a foot of growth, shoulder to waist in six months. This is no spurt, would have to be consistent growth. This is also including a half inch trim, right? So at this rate, by the end of the year if this keeps up, two feet per year. I can see why folks are baffled, and you should be too. This is an anomaly the likes of which I think has not been seen before. Get thee to a scientist, to see what's causing this.

Maybe you need to take a picture of your underlayer only, to show it's real ;). I think one issue is the picture you have with the markers showing where your hair was at SL at the start of the year, but in the very first picture it looks (to me) longer than where you've marked SL in the next picture (which is just dusting your shoulders). Because in that picture you show that your hair has grown from SL to well past BSL in only 3 months! Typically "fast" hair growth may be 3-4.5" in that time, but yours is well past that. If you had a few more in between pictures that were dated, it may seem more believable.

I've had an eating disorder for many years, so sometimes my diet is very, very good and sometimes it's pretty bad. Sometimes my fitness routine is very good, and sometimes not. Over many years, my hair growth has...always been about the same. Sometimes fast, sometimes slow. Shedding's always about the same, too, except after I gave birth. So I'm inclined to believe it's mostly genetics, unless there's actually an underlying health issue or *genuine* nutritional deficiency. Which is not to say that people shouldn't eat a good diet--I always advocate that over supplements--because a good diet is beneficial to your whole body, and frankly, your overall health is more important than your hair. I just don't know that it makes a huge amount of difference unless your diet is really crappy to begin with.

Hmm if SurferB is telling the truth about her hair, then there's quite a bit of unfairness to her being posted here! (Yes, I know I asked her to show the underlayer of her hair, but I did it because so many people are skeptical... in my earlier posts I did say her hair seemed to grow insanely fast, but I also said that I didn't personally see extensions).
So let's give her the benefit of the doubt, hey?

I use natural hair dye without harmful chemicals. I'm a natural dark blonde. Yeah my sig pic is from a while ago.
Could you share the ingredients to this product, as far as I knew only a bleach of some kind can lighten hair, you can only dye your hair darker without bleach/peroxide:confused: even honey releases small amounts of peroxide hense why it lightens hair, which incidently I've used with great success and no damage at all, but I'm interested in the exact dye your using which takes your hair lighter without using peroxide, Tia. :)

Rest assured I do not have time to be finding ethically treated cows and yadda yadda pasteurized eggs just to grow some hair.
To the OP your hair growth is amazing - good for you for being healthy.
What I don't think some people realise is that in the JAN pic her hair length is beyond SL , it is even past collarbone length bordering on APL. Then in her second pic she has her FEB length showing as shoulder length....(I don't remember seeing anything about her cutting her hair between that time .. but then again I'm not so cut throat as to check it out)
So it more seems to me that her hair grew from the midpoint between her Feb 2012 and her BSL line (since when you pull your hair over your shoulders to the front it tends to be about .5 - 1 " shorter than at the back) to mid back length in that space of time
Having said that ... her BSL in the second pic is where my APL is and I am pretty short and for her to say she is tall and claim that area as BSL is just off. Her May 2012 marking seems more like BSL to me . To be honest I just believe her markings are inaccurate but her growth is believable.

ETA: maybe I'm confused and what the OP meant is that she grew out the brunette color and the light blonde is her natural color? I'm not sure, but the blonde color is pretty (I am a fan of blonde hair).
Not all colour removers use peroxide, colour b4 and decolour do not contain peroxide they work by shrinking the dye molecules which you can then wash out, I've used both these and they work quite well and do not touch the natural colour but stripping does use peroxide. I'm thinking the op has either used a peroxide based stripper or bleached, also in her length photo her head is tilted back more as you can see her parting more on the final photo. I know nothing of extensions but looking back at her photos it does look like the position of her head is different giving the illusion of better growth,

I never had a starting picture from the very beginning since I didn't know I was ready to grow it back out really long again. But, I had my hair chopped at sholder in jan. Yeah, I'm thinking about not going on here anymore. This was seriously ridiculous. I know you all aren't like this but it's just the few that ruin it for the rest of us. I've grown out my hair like 5x in my life, and the last few times I was able to grow well over 15 inches per year (approx 20 or so). My hair has been growing 1.5-2 inchess each month. It's definitely possible.

Good point. I didn't even notice the head tilting, but I was holding a mirror and a phone to check the position. ^_^
The sig pic of myself (to the left) is just my favorite pic of my hair, and again, it was taken a while ago. What I did was slowly change my hair back to blonde. It's not pernament dye, so I went from brown to light brown and eventually blonde again. I have NO idea the chemical aspect of the "naturals" hair dye but I know that since I've used it, my hair doesn't dry out like the regular dye you get from stores. It's much more gentle, in my opinion. I'm sticking with it for now. But the sun also changes my hair to a much lighter blonde.

I think you all stating false asumptions should apologize... That's not nice LHC.
I am actually relieved to be wrong about thinking you were at waist instead of midback; I was thinking that with text under your siggie quote that says 'shoulder squiggle waist' and ALSO in looking at your pics with measurements, I assumed you had gone from shoulder to waist in six months, which sounds like an average of 2 feet of growth a year, which does not sound humanly possible, regardless of your diet/ health/ genetics/ whatever else. Two feet of yearly hair growth would be a scientific anomaly, from what I understand. Correct me anyone? I am long waisted and shoulder to waist on me looks to be about 14 inches. I don't think I need to apologize for anything I said specifically, but I am glad you corrected my assumption. Measuring is a tricky business, and if you make claims with pictures and diagrams, and say "look at me" people are going to look and critique, and form opinions, and of course, tell you what they think, because you put yourself out there.
I have been here since April, and I have yet to start one thread. I am just learning about all this stuff on LHC, and even in the posts I have made, have found I put my foot in my mouth or made posts I wished I hadn't at least three times I can think of, none of which are related to this thread. Sometimes being new and coming right in and getting all gung-ho with giving advice doesn't sit well, and can be annoying and off-putting, IMO. I think I have probably done it a little bit in some threads I have posted to.
I wish you well and hope you can pull something helpful from this thread.

In a two year period, I grew from shoulder to waist +, TWICE. Twenty years ago, during pregnancy, and the year after while breastfeeding. I've been talking about that since I joined 3 years ago. My mother is catching up to my hair and she cut it to chin last year. Her hair grows extremely fast ALL the time. Rats, though, I of course didn't inherit THAT gene.

I think this is making sense to me. You dyed it darker brown underneath with a more natural dye from a sort of health food establishment and it has lightened? Is that correct?
You may also be using a different shade of this dye to lighten the upper layers and the sun is helping you out along the way? (Sorry if that sounds disjointed, I was tryiing to paraphrase so I could be sure I understood you correctly.)
I admit I was hoping you had found a new way to lighten hair without damage, and I would honestly still be interested in what brand of dye you use because if you had good luck with it I am sure other members would also enjoy learning about your experiences. I don't really care if it has peroxide or not in it, but it I would appreciate the name of the brand if you can remember it off-hand. Thanks. :flower:

Thanks, it's okay. I'm forgiving... Idk how to tell what type of hair I am, I just guessed ;-P It probably is iii from the looks of other people with "iii".
The method is to pull as much hair into a ponytail holder as possible, then, as close to the base of the ponytail as you can, wrap a tape measure around it and measure.
i - thin (less than 2 inches/5 centimeters)
ii - normal (between 2-4 inches or 5-10 centimeters)
iii - thick (more than 4 inches/10 centimeters)
Hooe that helps! ^^

I would just like to say you have beautiful hair! I think it's a mix of your diet/health and good genetics. Yes there is no "super" food to hair growth, but being deficient in something can slow it down. It is obvious SurferB follows a healthy lifestyle and is therefore probably not deficient in any important nutrients, thus allowing her hair to grow to it's full potential. Lovely! :)

If it is because you are embarrassed because you claimed at first that it was a natural product with no chemicals and were told that such a product could not lighten hair, it's ok. Not everybody reads the ingredients as avidly as many of the folks here! This thread has been eye opening. I'll remember it the next time I feel the urge to make a picture thread about my hair. I just cut my hair to APL, it hasn't even been 90 days and I am past BSL already. My hair grows like a weed but I don't even want long hair, it's insanely thick and my top crown area is wavy and crazy and a COMPLETELY different texture than my underlayer. Add to that the fact that I get highlights added to the top half of my head occasionally and you have all the makings of an LHC bullyfest.
Actually, I shouldn't call it an LHC bullyfest, because this is NOT what LHC is about and some of the responses here are so opposite of KNIT that it is shameful.
While it seems to be a current fad to call people out : I call out the "new" members who just happen to be lurking for a long time and decided this particular thread was the one FINALLY deserving of your two cents. I call ********. I think you've created duplicate accounts to serve your own need to insult and bully but you don't want to risk your reputation or "real" account. It's quite the cowardly way to be bold - no ? The mods here are quite resourceful and intelligent, they'll do their thing and find you out.........
As for me, I'll keep it real just like I always do : To the OP, you've brought this partially upon yourself. Any time someone new swoops into LHC and comments on a lot of posts and gives opinions that aren't always taken well and seems to want a lot of attention, it gets on people's nerves. Trust me, I know.
I found LHC and was all up in eveyone's posts and showing pics of my hair right and left. It was super fun, until someone tried to knock me off my ladder. It didn't work, my ladder is cemented to the ground and I am hanging on tight ;) But, I learned that not everyone will appreciate you like you appreciate yourself. And that's okay, as long as we all play nice with each other to some extent. Apparently some here have forgotten how to do that. You don't have to prove anything to anyone. The only person you harm by lying is yourself, the rest of us are just opinions hiding behind a computer screen.
I have been taking a bit of a break from the group and this thread reminded me why. I absolutely adore LHC, but the disregard for kindness and the need to be right - to the point of verbally PUSHING others - is a trend that I hope does not continue.

OP, I said I would apologise, and I do. As I said before, this was an issue of perception and your pictures cleared that up. It is very apparent that you don't have extensions. It is clear that your darker underlayer is several inches longer than your top blonde layer. Thank you for posting the pics to clarify. I hope you accept my apology.
I think it is important that where unusual claims are being made there is transparency and honesty. We've all seen outrageous claims made all over the web and it is healthy and wise to have a modicum of scepticism where claims appear to be far outside the expectation of normal. As long as concerns are raised politely and considerately, and addressed truthfully, I think this is acceptable and sensible.
The tone of the thread began to turn mocking after some people had raised their concerns, and I was uncomfortable with this so I backed off. I hope you are OK, OP.
If I may offer a suggestion, as others have pointed out, your 'before' pictures your hair cannot be easily compared to your 'after' pictures. Retrospectively drawing pointer lines is prone to inaccuracy, which is what seems to have happened based on your January picture, and as a result there has been confusion over your perceived growth. I accept, however, that this was not a deliberate attempt to deceive others, and hope this can all be put to bed now.
This thread suggests that tracking and sharing your hair growth progress is something that interests you. If this is the case, then I would suggest that you perhaps follow the example of other LHCs in documenting your hair growth pics using comparable benchmark photos taken at regular intervals from now on. Just a kindly meant thought!

Wow.
What bothers me here is the bullying.
Yes, we can be skeptic and express that and yes OP could be lying to us. But there was just no need for the bullying, the making fun of things.
To me it felt like we were all in a big room together and a girl would show her hair all proud and then everyone would just go make fun of her and her claims, to her face and behind her back, exept SHE'S RIGHT THERE IN THE ROOM WITH US. That is bullying to me. That's what bothered me here.

It's easy to get defensive, considering what this thread has become. I understand that... But I can look back to the beginning and see how it got to this point. Just wow. It's a bad combination of factors. No need to list them all here again. Might be good to cut losses at this point.
I use humor, enjoy the "technical", and try to have fun and try to communicate my quirkish personality in my posts. I have no wish to "bully" you.
You are a beautiful girl and I hope that you can get back to enjoying your time on LHC.

And I suppose you missed the part where I adamantly defended you ? Not a very gracious response considering I was batting in your corner.
I said partially brought it upon yourself and explained the reasoning behind my theory, it certainly is a valid point and not uncommon for a newbie who posts so much so quickly to become the target of negative attention. Then I went on to share that I have experienced it myself........ Ah well, the point may be lost on you.

I don't, to be honest. I have to get used to the length every few inches--finding new updos or ways to revamp old ones, dealing with the weight and thickness. I don't want to deal with that constantly. Mine grows just fast enough. Plus, patience is a virtue, and all that. ;)
I agree with you! :flower: Mine grows way too fast (possibly faster then OP ; ; ) and I don't have much time to adjust to the new length. My SO is always laying on it and pulling it when asleep and I don't really get to enjoy it at different stages. The weight difference though is shocking.
It also does not feel like much of an accomplishment..its like oh hey..it grew back and I just cut it..yayy... ._.
But I should be happy with what I have and I am for the most part! :flower:

I don't care. That's why. I actually told you the brand name, so go reserach. I'm a college student and I work full time...I'm busy! Sorry.
Natural to me means better than the reg dye from the stores.
Here's the link:

I understand that you're upset, and rightly so considering some of the posts in this thread. I have no wish to upset you, but I am completely confused about this hair dye business. :o Let me explain, but please don't feel like I am attacking you. I just want to get my head round this:
In the pics, your hair is a light blonde.
I use natural hair dye without harmful chemicals. I'm a natural dark blonde. So I assume that this means you use a natural product without chemicals to lighten your dark blonde hair.
Asked what product you use:
Yes, I use natural dyes from whole foods to lighten or darken my hair. (snip) I also like using lemon, honey, teas, etc to lighten my hair.
There's a lot of interest in this natural hair lightener, and when asked again you said:
There's a brand of "Naturals" I believe it's called. That's what I use. I get it from wholefoods. IDK how "natural" or gentle it is. But I know my hair never feels dry or damaged after using it often. It probably has some form of peroxcide.
Ok, so it probably isn't a natural, chemical-free lightener.
But then it sounds like you were actually dyeing your hair brown with a non-permanent dye, and it's the sun that has made your hair turn light blonde-
What I did was slowly change my hair back to blonde.
Ok, I'm confused. But then you post a link to a brown, permanent, box hair dye that contains hydrogen peroxide and various other chemicals, brand name 'Naturtint', which you have not mentioned before..
You have stated that you don't care, which is fair enough. I am making no excuses for the unpleasantness on this thread- it is unacceptable. I just hope you can understand why a lot of us were confused by your contradictory posts, and perhaps forgive some of the exasperated responses that resulted.
Please accept my apologies if my questioning about the dye has upset you- I can assure you I had no intention of doing so, I am just trying to get to the bottom of this peculiar riddle. :flower:

OP to be honest you've gotten up my nose a bit by seeming to be very condescending about your health, nutrition, exercise, etc, while seeming to discount anything said by anyone else.
But this is a little too harsh for the LHC I know and enjoy.
Also I hope UB isn't right about new members being old members with new profiles to bully. If you have something to say you should be brave enough to say it.

If the OP really did get that dramatic a growth spurt in such a short amount of time, I doubt it is from the diet. I went vegetarian on and off for years, and it didn't affect my hair growth one bit. Neither did the 10+ years of taking 2000 mg of fish oil. I haven't yet found ANY supplement that affected my growth, for that matter. I naturally have times where my hair grows faster, and times where it grows slower. Summer is a great time for growing. I often have to dye every 3 weeks instead of 4 or 5 because my roots become so obvious. I think some people just have faster regrowth, just like some people have thicker hair.

I didn't know about this website until may. I was growing my hair out since before then. That being said, I didn't have start photos and I stated somewhere on the 1st or 2nd page why. If everyone had read everything, they may have known why. I also didn't know exactly where BSL length was, and it was a little off. Oh well, big deal. I really don't care about keeping a perfect chart with perfect pictures. I'm just here for helping others become healthier and learn something myself about hair/life/nutrition/etc.
About the products, I'm really not interested about the chemical makeup of it and some people were getting all technical. All I know is, it's more "natural" than many other brands and it never drys our my hair. :p

If you've come to this community wanting to be a part of it, share what you've learned with others and do a little 'giving', i.e. telling others nice things about their hair, you'll be a welcome and useful member. If you've just joined to be a 'look at me' person, well that doesn't even get you a cup of coffee here.
And as for that 'Naturtint'? I did a small amount of research this morning (not going to spend time on this) and the company 'dances' around an ingredient list. I've learned that just because someone touts 'organic', doesn't mean it's 100% natural. It generally has chemicals in it. You can list 'perfume' on the ingredients and shove a whole wealth of stuff under that title with very little of it being 'scent'. **This paragraph was intended for all the folks who asked questions, hope it helped**

I looked up Naturetint too and it lists peroxide. I don't know if other hair lighteners use harsher chemicals but peroxide is damaging to some people's hair. I used to highlight and color my hair a nice medium blonde and I loved the color and could do it again except I wouldn't be able to grow as long as I want AND be blonde. It's a choice I guess, long hair or blonde and shorter.

I agree with UltraBella. Below belly button would be closer to hip? Not sure. If you don't like using the body guidelines you could use exact unit measurements. There are a lot of members that like using a tapemeasure, and of course there is a method for that process too. You could measure in inches and keep a journal of your growth, what conditioners you use and when, and deep treatment recipes for your own reference and fun. I started a hair journal and that lasted about two weeks!

It wont look like a deep red, but a vibrant red.
This is actually the color held up to the sun. Maybe this is what it would look like on lighter hair? My hair is kind of translucent against light so it looks much brighter like this. But when my hair is all together, the brown really deepens it.

JustGreen- Yes... I agree. Moral of the story, ask nicely, need be. I honestly think it's soo rude to state an accusation about someone, without asking first. I've also been asked in person if I had extensions when my hair was at tailbone. Mind you, that was in high school (a few years ago), when all the girls were chopping their hair off for the "scene" look and adding extensions... Easy to excuse at the time, but now I believe, it's all about having the real deal. Fake, anything, is now being frowned upon in this day in age ^_^

Similar! It's very beautiful. I've always wanted to add some red back in since using that!! :D

Actually this is kinda frowned on. PM-ing her to accuse her of lying isn't kosher. The thing to do in this and a lot of situations, is to make a report (by using that little 'r' button on the bottom left of the box) to the mods. I'll be honest and say that I reported the person who started this thread downhill by questioning the OP's truthfull-ness about her length. If someone ever does PM you in a mean spirited manner, those PM's should also be reported to the mods.
Let me clarify... I meant PM her to ASK her if she a- has extentions or b- is wearing clip in or whatever else everyone was tossing up on this post to be a "fact" Some of those posts by others straight up said what she was claiming was impossible and they can "see" extensions...that's rude! No need fort it to even have been said. But on the other hand you noticed she had two toned hair, go and bleeping ask her...if you noticed SurferB got the most upset b/c she was being accused without even being asked once about it...people were talking about her like they knew better than she did about her own hair! Personally, I take her for her word and find jealousy running rampant through here. Do I wish my hair would grow that fast...heck yes! Am I going to say she's lying b/c my hair doesn't grow like hers...NO!
I just feel people did things messy, I may be old school, but I believe if you have a question about someone you go to them and ask...but you never assume!

That's exactly what I got from your post.

Surferb...Let me first say congrats on your growth!
I read the first 9 pages and this turned out to be one of the most controversial threads in a matter of a few pages lol. First, I do not know suferb at all...she could be lying, she coul be making this up...BUT people on the internet who do that have something to gain usually...like some magical product, some product only available through some specified link THEY provide, because of course they are misleading people to get a commision or sale on a product. So what does suferb have to gain? She's advocating a healthy lifestyle...exercise, elimination of processed foods, a wholefood diet rich in protein and a few supplements that she clearly has no affiliation with. So IMHO she has no "motive" to get up on here and inspire us if it's only lies...so to that I say let's play nice! If you think she's lying, PM her or something but all out accusing her on her own post is kind of mean spirited. Just saying my :twocents:
I took this sentence you wrote literally. Thanks for clarifying that for me.;)

I'd be very intrested to see pics of the back of your head with a part that runs from the top of your head back to the nape with the two sides put in pony tails, with the length behind the shoulders, combed straight, un scrunched, no product or teasing.
Lets get this done and over with. Post your pics so we can move on and kill this thread one way or another. I am wondering why you find it so outlandish that there are very skeptical ppl here that know how fast, fast growth is and can be. You've come in here touting, OMG Look at me!!! Well, we're looking with a fine tooth comb... So please, post pics and prove to us you've got no tracks from clip ins running horizontally through your head.
*This post is not to discriminate against extentions. I owned a set for two years and loved them!* :p
Jealous much? :disgust: She doesn't need to prove anything to you.

Anyone ever use Cassia to tone blonde hair more golden??
Many people here have - you might like to check out this article on herbal hair coloring (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/vbjournal.php?do=article&articleid=2).

Nothing is right about that picture. The whole thing is off. The ends are so.. well I almost said ratty. Well I say it. Of course they are, since the underlayer is fake.
Thanks for this comment; I hate this too. I find it godawful disgusting. It must require a great deal of courage to post this given you have no history on LHC and these are your first posts. Thanks!!
Wow, you called her ends ratty. How nice! And now that she's proven to us that they aren't extensions, you insulted her hair.
Stop assuming everybody, because you know what that makes out of you and me.

Hey surferB, just wanted to offer an apology for assuming you had extensions when someone else mentioned the possibility. Your markers on pictures were a bit confusing, and im always skeptical of people on the internet. People are strange and get off on making up fake profiles and such. Happens on BabyCenter aaaaaall the time! lol I dont understand why people do that, but congrats on your growth :)

Old school is usually the most preferred way of doing most things, in my opinion. ^_^
Yes, ask, ask, ask. Don't tell, tell, tell. :p
