I had the same problem recently, so I had a side fringe cut in so the longest bit was at my nose, it grew out mostly within 2 months, but it showed me that I missed my fringe and may get it cut shorter next time - might be worth considering whilst your hair is short enough to grow the fringe out easily? Personally, I like the first fringe most.

Colour wise, I would leave that until after you try the fringe and maybe just do a semi-permanent of a very close colour to your own to try it out? Nothing drastic until you're sure!

I really like the way your fringe looks in picture #2.

I like the color and style in the first pic and I like the fringe in the second pic.

I like the first picture the most, and the fringe in the second picture looks cute on you.

I don't know why you are unhappy with your look. You look just fine! Personally, I think you look best with long side bangs, and I don't think it's the color.

I'm kind of partial to picture #2, myself, though the longer fringe in #1 looks good also.

It really gave me a lift out of "blah" and "dowdy" territory to take the plunge into a hair-style change. You wear fringe well; so go for it. Just don't get it too thick and heavy.
