View Full Version : 50 Shades of Grey Hair

50 Shades of Grey is all about sexy mommas. This is just for fun but I was hoping all the Grey-babes with their wonderful greys/grays could post a picture of their's or their favourite grey hair here. A celebration and collaboration of salt and pepper heads.
I am currently trying to dig one up of my mum who went grey at 23. Everyone told her she had to cover it up but she decided to embrace it when she hit 30. Until I find it... here's one I love of Rosanne Barr rockin her grey hairs http://au.eonline.com/news/roseanne_barr_running_president/291358

I prefer the word "silver" :D But here's a couple of pics of me (there are many many more in my albums!):

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s144/missrini8/mymummy.jpg

That's me and my darling Mum :inlove: This was taken on the very last time I dyed my hair and before I went to live in Italy. Mum has had silver hair for as long as I can remember. Like me, she went silver very early. I have always loved her hair and she gets so many compliments from complete strangers. She is my silver inspiration.

..and here's me on Christmas day last year. My hair has pretty much fully transitioned to silver (except for some dye in my bun which is slowly being cut out):

Wow, you are living proof, younger ladies can rock the 'silver'. My mum's hair is silver and white, white. She also has recieved compliments about her hair too (she wears hers shoulder length bob) People used to accuse her of having highlights in it but it has always been au naturale. I have a few 'silvers' too. But I henndigo mine as I do not have the skin tone for light hair colour. Although I am considering growing them out in my fringe so I can have the Mortica silver streak.

Two things I love about grey/grays/salt & pepper/silvers:
1. They are strong little suckers! Mine tend to stick staight up for the first two inches, but they are so strong compared to the rest of the hairs on my head
2. They make excellent natual highlights in my henndigo'd hair. No flat blanket colour. Natural highlights that even my sista-in-law hairdresser is impressed by

I will give her your feedback on her hair, she is one of the only family members who listens to my hair advice.

I love how all the greys/silvers aren't the same colour and it all blends so perfectly. Her hair is the complete opposite in colour (and hemline) to mine:)

ps. She is 65 and her hair is twice as thick as mine

My therapist has the most beautiful 3a/b silver/white hair and now I really want to somehow snag a picture for this thread.

My gym teacher as a kid had tailbone length *pure white* super thick 1a hair... most beautiful hair I have ever seen in my life.

Three cheers for gray hair! I think the only reason it's "bad" must because it's associated with age, but age isn't bad either!!! I LOVE gray hair (silver, white, whatever) and am definitely going to keep an eye on this thread :)

I love all these fabulous shades of grey/silver/white!

I personally dye but I don't have paler hairs coming in yet :( My gran and mom both went salt and pepper very late but my grandad was white when he was 30. I take after gran in colouring so I guess I have a while to wait for any awesome silvers. I am so tempted to dye a grey stripe into my bangs though. I love silver hair :)

This thread is so great.

Let's start a club. I sneak a peak in the Renegray thread now and then, and I always end up pouting with envy. My father did start turning white when he was 18, though, so it could have been in my genes. I feel so cheated.

Luluj pointed out this thread to me and told me to come on over, so here I am!

I've been streaking since I was 20 (in the hair sense LOL) and only dyed it once because it wasn't for me.
I haven't taken any good pics of my silver streaks for a few months....but here you go!

Just after I joined LHC last year, but it shows each major streak the best--
http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5221/5604079094_3b5c4fa23b_n.jpg

Most recent photo of front streaks and it's bit frizzy that day--but Cruella needs a bit of frizz, right? (it's obviously my avatar, but you can see it better this way)--
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7041/7010912245_95fef9fba3.jpg

And how the streaks look in various braids and updos--

Rini-- I've always loved that Christmas photo of you. So young and silvery at the same time.

Allychan--I love your mom's hair! It looks like fairy mist.

Honestwitness-- It's getting so long and I've always loved your color.

Spidermom-- You are getting very silvery in such a nice shade. I especially love the braid picture. :crush: And your new siggy pic!

Caldonia Sun-- *sigh* Can I just have your hair?

teazel-- Another hair idol. You're looking good and I like seeing both colors of your hair.

I really like your multi-colori effect of the different salt and peppers. That's the best thing about 'going grey' it is not always one flat all over colour.

Rags, I am a big fan of streaks :p, I always loved the different colors woven through your buns. (that could sound really wrong in a different context)

The streaks I have left are mostly underneath, so they can only be seen in updos anymore.

My hair is a chameleon when it comes to color, I had one person tell me my hair looked platinum blonde to them, depends on the light source and the surrounding colors. For some reason it seems to photograph close to it's natural color in my bathroom, but in my bedroom it comes out a really odd looking color. Strangely enough both rooms are painted the same color:shrug:
