Hello. I have been coming to the forum as a guest for some time now and as a member iam new. i wanted to say iam very thankful to everyone here because i have learned a lot about how to take care of my hair in the past couple of days. i have very bad hair fall problem, dandruff problem so those home remedies from the "Recipes, henna and herbal hair care" are very helpful. Thanks a lot.

I have read here that using horn and wooden combs are good for hair. so iam looking to buy one because of my hair problems but there are so many varieties to choose from it's confusing.

So i have two questions.

1. which horn comb should i go for? which one would you recommend?
Ox horn comb or Sheep horn comb.

2. which type of wood should i choose for a comb out of these?
Peachwood, Boxwood, Chacate Preto, Lignum vitae.

Chacate preto combs are sold by a company called Tan.

Lignum vitae wood combs are sold by a company called Crystalmood.

Peachwood and Boxwood are used by many companies.

I don't know which is good and which is not so please help in selecting one.

I don't think the type of wood or horn is as important as the workmanship and the quality of the finish. You could have a badly-made comb out of the most expensive materials and it would still be bad for your hair. As long as it is smooth, seamless and well-made, I'd just go with whatever you most liked the look of.

@Amanah - Could you tell me how is the sandalwood comb? Are they smooth, any splinters or any problems? i have a dry scalp so can i use sandalwood combs. (i've heard sandalwood dries skin so iam little concerned).

http://www.etsy.com/shop/epstone I bought one from here which I like and will keep for as long as I can.The comb has some joinery imperfections (as these are handmade) but it does not snag or tear hair. v good. I don't think it matters what type of wood, just be sure of good workmanship and go WIDE TOOTH :)

I've been looking at the epstone combs, I love the smell of verawood and it looks like it wouldn't break the bank! Epstone also have bone combs.

I have recently bought this verawood wide toothed comb from etsy https://www.etsy.com/transaction/83399033 and it looks the same as the wide toothed one in your last link. I can honestly say both me, and my hair are in love with the comb! I can now brush my hair snag free, and it's made such an amazing difference, can't recommend it enough!
