I've been growing my hair out but don't know what to do for my hairstyle. Ideally I want to grow around jaw length, and have some sort of Chris Hemsworth (Thor) style. It's at an awkward length right now, and I'd like to figure out some way to keep my hair/what sort of products to use.

I cannot attach pictures but I provided some links to head/profile shots.

Coconut oil and aloe vera gel (clear not medicated) can make great hair friendly styling products. You might want to consider trimming the bottom and/or encouraging your wave in a couple of months to avoid mulletiness. Also hats and bandanas are your friends.

Good luck growing, I'm sure it'll look great on you.

How often would someone use these products? In addition to regular shampoo and conditioner, or would conditioner not really be needed after starting with coconut oil?

I'm afraid it's a try it and see, everyones different. Generally apply coconut when your hair feels dry and dilute aloe when you need to hold it still. Some people only use oil, loads of people use oil and conditioner.

Welcome to LHC!

Are we talking this kind of hair?

His hair looks naturally fairly straight and is on the thinner side, whereas yours seems to have some wave to it, so it might not look exactly the same when it's longer. For the awkward stages, I agree that styling products are a good option. You can try oil and aloe vera gel, or just use conditioner as a leave-in--it will keep things piecey while not damaging your hair.

Coconut oil can make some people break out in zits because it is a pore clogger. I love it, and my hair does too, but I only apply it on the length below the ears. It's also recommended to apply just a little bit at first--literally a few drops smoothed between the palms. A little goes a long way.
