"A hairpin belonging to 16th century French Queen Catherine de Medici has been discovered at a royal residence outside Paris. What has conservators scratching their heads is exactly where it was found: down a communal toilet."

Where can I get a replica  3.5 inches, it would only be decorative, but I think I can make it work with a lazy wrap bun.

Gorgeous! But I can't get past the toilet bit. I'm so squeamish with anything bathroom related that even if I try to look for a replica of this beautiful pin, all I'll think about is the toilet. Sad.

Was it solid gold? Man, that'd be heavy, especially if she had several like them in her hair!

Aww man, I never think of looking in the toilet when one of those babies come up missing. Now I will have this story in the back of my mind.
Hmmm......maybe that is where my cell phone went?

Maybe Catherine de Medici was reborn as Coco Chanel..? That would explain the eerily similar monogram:p

Chanel is probably what people would think it was if anyone did get hold of a replica. I would have to fight an urge to explain to every single person I met that it was in fact not a Chanel product if I had that in my hair, whether they mentioned it or not. Misunderstandings irk me to no end.

I'm not a fan of golden accessories. Cool story though! I checked this thread out because I read the title and was like: whoa! She found an ancient pin in her toilet??? Maybe I should pay more attention when I'm cleaning mine! Lol :p

If it is, you may want to look into getting a new one! :P

Yeah, it is on my to do list. Which unfortunately has been lost along with my phone, which leaves me in quite the catch-22. ;)

That was my first thought, too--that's where Chanel stole her logo from!

Gorgeous pin, and I love the delicate and diplomatic wording in the article.
"After the age-old soil was cleaned off..." :D
If it's solid gold, I'm sure it would've sunk without a trace pretty quickly.
