Hello everyone!

I recently came across these mermaid braid tutorials on YouTube. They look gorgeous but I don't believe my hair is quite long enough for them yet, I think I'd end up more with a stumpy fin than a mermaid tail XD but I can't wait to try these!

Here is one, and the second link is a simpler version:

Do any of you have mermaid braid photos, or variations of your own? I'd love to see them in your long hair!

I love the first one, but I know my hair is WAY too short. :(

I call the first one a cage braid. There's another way to get a very similar look: one lace perimeter braid with each side of your hair, then pin them together in the back (hair must be longish to have this look decent).
I love it. Oo But on curly hair it just doesn't look the same!

I love the 2nd one of those braids - it looks like its really complicated when it's not!
I can't wait til my hair is long enough to do things like these - thanks for sharing

I really like the first one but I don't know if I could do it on myself. I'd probably mess up grabbing pieces behind my head.

I really like them both! I think I'll try them at some point, I think my hair's long enough. May post pics if I do decide to do them soon. :)

I think my hair may be long enough ... I'll try this out and come back to show you my braids!

Definitely saving for a later date when I have more hair :blossom:

I really love the second one. My hair totally rejects bobby pins thou (they slide out) i wonder if I could, sew it together or some thing? (I've never sewn my hair either...)

That second one looks so pretty! I'll have to give it a try for sure :]

Fish tails are really sweet and good for shorter hair lengths.

I call that first one a cage braid, too. It's pretty hard to do on myself below neck length.

I've never tried the 2nd one but should.

Just tried the first one on my hair, and I can confirm it is do-able on APL hair. Hooruh!

I saw the 2nd video a couple months ago and gave it a try here is my first attempt my layers are sticking out and you can see the bobby pin but it was my first try.
I have since figured out a better way to hold them together with tiny claw clips you can not see and you can embed them in the braid so they are not visable from underneath either.

Lovely hairstyles. I've been able to do the second one, but I haven't tried the cage braid yet.

My friend did that for her grad! She braided and I pinned. :)

It was kind of messy by the time pictures got taken but it was neat and fun to do. I think it would look really awesome on super long hair. I think hers is about waist length or a bit longer. :)

Whenever I try the cage braid style (the first one), I seem to have difficulty. The second style does look quite pretty, though, and it is so simple. I will give them both a try and post here if I'm at all successful! :D
