Hey everyone!

Tomorrow I am going to a party with some of my friends. I donīt go out that often (mother of 3) :) but tomorrow I will really enjoy going out!

BUT what should I do with my hair?
I used to blowdry my hair a lot (specially before going out to a pary or dinnerparty) but stopped a few weeks ago. I am thinking about using it tomorrow but then I tell myself NO. I can enjoy my natural hair without using heat. This is my BIG test :)!!!!

I would love it if we all can share suggestions and ideas.
How do you wear your hair to a special party or celebration?

PICTURES for INSPIRATION perhaps. :D

Both short, medium and long hair inspiration would be great. So everyone can enjoy it and get ideas:). Maybe there is a special updo you prefer or maybe you let it all down.

(If there is a thread like this that is fairly new - please direct me since I didnīt find it. :o )

Well, for me it depends on the party.
Most often it'll just be in my normal ponytail/whatever I wore that day.

If it's a formal-ish occasion, I'll probably wear my hair down and natural with the sides pulled back a little, like:

Lately I've been rockin' this kinda half-bun, half-ponytail thing, where it's a shortened ponytail so my curly ends hang out but my hair is still up and off my neck. I think it's really cute and I really like it. Here's three pictures on three different occasions, from most casual to most formal:

But yeah, basically I just let the type of party and my mood dictate what happens to my hair.

ummm GORGEOUS!

for myself, I usually plan ahead and braid, bun, or pin damp hair for quite a few hours before the party, then take it out just before I go so I have waves/curls and either pin some back or leave it all down. in an attempt to get the gorgeous hair like posted above.

As Quixii mentioned, it totally depends on the type of party! (^(oo)^)v

Most of the time I sport my signature exploded porkbun:

Over the holidays I wore a ponytail with curled ends:

For black-tie events I normally have my hair in a full updo of some sort. This one was a low, asymmetric sockbun:

 oh my!! You all look amazing. Just absolutly stunning.
I agree that it is mostly the daily mood that decides how you want your hair going to a special celebration or party. But many also have a signature hairstyle that tend to be used.

I, like I am sure many others love all the pictures and ideas. It is truely an inspiration. :)

Pesonally if it is a party, I am going to get warm so the locks are going up. One that I like is to put your hair up in to a poney tail. Then take sections of hair and curl it aroun two fingers and pin it in to the poney tail holder. If the pieces of hair are thick you might pin each curl from both sides. This could take a while depending on thickness and lingth. With waist lingth thick hair it takes me about 20 min.

I do tend to pick styles that make my face look more heart shaped. I've got a widow's peak and I like it a lot... and I have basically no chin. So emphasizing the heart shape makes the most out of my chin. It's also a pretty "sweet" or "romantic" face shape in a lot of eyes, and I tend to look like a porcelain doll. Might as well work with what comes naturally, even if it's not an aesthetic I really adore. I can think of at least 5-10 different ways to get that kind of emphasis off the top of my head.

For special events, I find it's the hair accessories that make the look much moreso than the style itself. It tends to look really good if your jewelry and your hair accessories present a unified look. Not identical... just something where people can see some thought went into the effect. I tend to buy lots of of beads of a pale mint green sort of stone. Not pearls, but it has a similar effect style wise, and it looks good on me (unlike pearls!). So I tend to look for hair accessories that utilize similar stones. I'm idly planning a set of fancier jewelry to order from a friend who does lovely stuff and is a longhair... and the hair accessories will be a major part of the set since that tends to be the easiest way for me to show off. (and idle is the word... I have a stack of inspiration images, and I track prices on things that would suit my planned set and it's not going to be cheap at all... but it'll be a lot of fun!)

I actually tend to follow a blog or two where the whole point is to look at things queens and princesses wear, because my natural inclination with clothes is to just not wear jewelry or other accessories. Yet if you're a Queen and do that, people are quite sad... so it's a good way to build an "eye" for accessorizing. And if you're trying to deal with a rather romantic or doll like image... you often get similar reactions. People can get quite irritated with you if you don't live up to their fairy tale fantasies.

It depends on the formality of the event for me. If I'm going to be dancing, it always goes all the way up because otherwise the tangles are horrendous. My go-to is a dutch braided side bun (start on one side, end on the other), but I've done other things too. I have some flower/feather clips I like for more formal occasions, too. If it's a dinner or something sometimes I'll wear it down or half-up to show off the length.
