I have been really un-happy for some time with my hair around the time i went a long time between trims nearly a year but i think my layers were the real culprit i hated them! how thin the end of my braid looked, so i was micro trimming and they were nearly gone but i the sort of person that either does something properly or not at all and the other reason was i couldn't get to hip with one length hair unless i chopped at some point so i just did it.

I'm so happy! yeah i've lost a bit of length but those layers are gone after nearly 4 years and i'm still at waist, it looks so much better

Congrats on making a decision you're happy with! I think it looks great, it hardly looks shorter and you can definitely see the difference. :)

It looks great and I agree with Zesty, it doesn't look like you lost much length at all!

I think waist is a good length to chop off at! It's still long (not super long by LHC standards, but long everywhere else :D) and there isn't the regret there may have been if you'd made the decision to chop off at APL or BSL or so.

it also doesn't look as if you've lost much length at all!

It looks great, bunzfan! I am a new fan of healthy trimming, as you know. There's nothing like a freshly trimmed hemline. Your hair is still so long!

Thanks Everyone i was thinking about it since Feb really but i was holding off as it took me so long to get to waist but today i took my clue from you lulu and it feels so much thicker and healthier .

Your right Mesmerise i lost about a inch at the very most, Thanks Madora my braids now looks much thicker to i'm thinking of possibly maintaining for another month or to, what did i learn this year than fine hairs don't like a long gap between trims if i want to continue having thick looking hair.

It looks awesome! The funny thing is there's barely any length difference, but you can totally tell the health/layering is improved. Great job :)

Your hemline looks fabulous, Bunzfan. :) It must feel good not having to think about those darn layers anymore.

Update***

Since i took those pics yesterday i have continued to take tiny amounts off as i still had layers at the side and now i have less than a half inch between the sides and the length i guess you could call it a u shape and i love how it looks.

The longest hair's are still just at waist to i reckon if i trim another half inch next month it will be all one length :happydance:

You made the perfect trim...I kept darting my eyes from your Before pic to your After pic. You hardly cut it and yet it looks so much thicker. How'd you do that?!?

Your After pic makes me want to cut my "point" off. Congratulations on your thick Hemline and for the inspiration!

Your ends look great now and I can hardly tell you lost length. I'm too chicken to cut my layers, I'd be at shoulder length. Your hair came out beautiful.

Thank you your both lovely to say that, i trim using 4 pony tails bands i did a tutorial on it i find for me its more accurate probably because the ponytails bands stop the hair from moving:D:

Your hair looks longer after the trim :D. Very nice! I did the same and have no regrets the wear-down-ability of your hair improves and it feels great. Enjoy!!!

I agree with the others. I can only see maybe 1 inch of length gone? which is barely nothing :P It looks fantastic!

Congrats, your hair looks much thicker at the bottom now!!! I have layers and I *hate* them. I can't wait to grow mine out and get it all one length!

It looks like you hardly lost any length at all, and what a difference! Glad you took the plunge, it certainly has paid off for you and you'll now get to grow to hip in complete happiness. :)

Looks wonderful and no length difference really from your updated photo, your head is slightly differently positioned which makes it look just at waist, id say realistically its hardly any difference in length, looks beautiful.
