gah i just dont know what one to buy! i dont wanna turn orange..although since i have dark hair i guess thats not likley :P

The lush stuff is more of a gloss, you might not get much colour.

I've actually used red Raj a few times now. It has a beautiful stain. Quite red compared to my beloved Jamila. Also very intense. By the time I'm done applying, my hands are very red. It's also wonderfully stringy with just water added. Makes it much easier to apply. It's now my favorite crop.

If your hair is dark and you really want henna to show without bleaching, you need body art or bridal quality henna because they have a higher dye content. You could order some and do a stand or hairball test first. No one goes back easily once they henna. It's quite permanent for most people.

Lush caca bars are a great 'intro' to henna. they are less intense, easy to use, and not as permanent as the real deal.

Personally I would henna the hell out of it, if you cruise the henna threads a lot of the people who do multiple full-head applications tend to have that colour.

there are so many names of henna out there, my head hurts trying to decide what one to get! i was looking at the stores and they all have odd names and no pics of what the colour might be >.<

do i jus close my eyes and point? hope for the best? :D

also we have indian grocers and health shops here that sell henna, would the quality be so bad not to use them? i prefer to buy products i can pick up and hold...silly i know

If it's straight henna it's all the same colour, it's just in different strengths. Just pick whichever one you like, although for a strong red I would suggest Yemeni or Red Raj.

-henna will not lighten your hair. It makes it darker and redder.
-You can henna as often as you want, it won't hurt your hair.
-Henna is permanent. Once it's in, it's almost impossible to remove.
-Repeated applications of henna will build up the red color in your hair until your hair is saturated, and can't take any more color.
-The color of your hair affects the final hennaed color. Henna is like a coat of stain, it combines with your original color, doesn't block it out.

thanks for all info, but nowhere does it say what name = what colour-ish..i know it depends on your hair and all but a rough guide might be nice before i use a permanent colour :P there are so many variations and names :)

then after a month i might get the guts up to try a red :)

Some people experience fading (I wouldn't count on it by any means), particularly when mixed with a lot of acid or boiling water, which they suggest, in fact the "keep the mixture super hot" seems a bit odd.

The Lush Cacas also say to make them extra hot to touch before putting on your hair but there is no dye release time with those.

One thing to remember is to check the postage of any henna you buy on line.

I had an unfortunate incedent of getting samples with free postage and after deciding on the one i wanted it was $40 postage :( so haven't bought any yet.
