View Full Version : Would a Ficcare Innovation work for me?

I tried the Ficcare Maximas and eventually gave up on them because I couldn't get them to sit right in my bun. No matter what I tried, I found that the entire weight of bun and clip would end up pulling on a small section of scalp hair. Also, I found the head curve on the Maximas extreme enough that inserting it was awkward. The only style it was comfortable in was a French twist, and unfortunately I prefer the look of other hairtoys in that style. So both my Ficcares found new homes via the swap board.

But lately I've been eyeballing the Innovation clips -- partly because I like their intrinsic shape and partly because I've always loved the Primavera decor and would love to have a hairtoy in that design. Anyone here with experience of the Innovation? My hair is currently hip length, but with severe taper, and my scalp is sensitive so I can't bun very tightly or it'll freak out. What styles could I do with a clip like this?

I'm afraid I've never tried an Innovation, but I just wanted to throw this out there; have you ever tried a Ficcarissimo? They don't open as widely as a Maximas, but their head curve is a little more subtle, and they're generally a lot more balanced. :) They have two rows of teeth too, not one, so they hold like a rock. The main drawback is the colour selection, which is sadly a lot more limited.

No, I haven't! What you say about their architecture and hold is interesting, though I'm not sure I care for their shape all that much. But it's something to think about!

I tried the Innovation (original beak clip) some time ago. I found they just pinged right back out of my hair again.

Have you looked at the side view (http://www.ficcare.com/Products.aspx?collId=10)? the Innovation's head curve is actually more extreme than that of the Maximas in terms of the bottom edge which is what comes into contact with the head.

Eep. I hadn't taken that into consideration. Thanks! I guess that's out then.

I like the innovation clips a lot. What I do is make a figure 8 and then slide the innovation clip through crosswise as if it were a two-piece hairstick. I find that very comfortable, and it holds well.

Here's an example:
