I cannot believe I didn't think about that earlier. I usually trim my hair when it's dry (I use Feyes self-trim method), but found it difficult bacause my hair flips in every direction. So today, after my shower, I decided to cut it while it was still wet. And it was amazing!! The ends stuck together and didn't flip at all and it was soo much easier to cut it and control the hair in general! Do you try it?! :cheese:

I didn't try it, my hair is very straight and if I mess it up, it will be very obvious :D but I'm glad you found something that works for you!

Yes, I can understand that. My hair is wavy and it doesn't really look straight.. no matter how straight the hemline is cut :) Thank you, I'm very happy about it! :)

I also tried Feye's trim method on dry hair first, but I had problems with it. Now I always wet my hair because it's a lot easier to tame it, plus my hair above APL and thicker now, so I don't even imagine to do it on dry hair.

I didn't try it yet because I plan to use her method for the first time in a few months. But I indeed planned to do it wet because with my curls.... Haha, would't work dry, indeed.
Glad you found it worked for you!

I wanted to try that before my unfortunate hair cut.

I've tried it both wet and dry. Both work. If I had more wave/curl I might try to use the Curly Girl method instead of Feye's, though, to cut each curl/lock instead of trying for a perfect straight hemline that curls wouldn't let look 'straight' anyway. ;)

I have always trimmed wet! I never tried doing it dry for some reason, I guess when it's wet it is straighter and easier to get a straight cut. Works for me :-)

I actually just looked into Feye's method and it was immediately apparent to me that it can't work very well for wavy/curly hair. I was actually quite surprised that she does it with dry hair ... it seems totally counterintuitive to me.
I will try her method with wet/damp hair sometime this month.
Glad that it worked for you so well! :cheese:

Thats cool you made your own little discovery :) It is nothing new or news breaking though.
You can cut hair wet or dry.
It is sort of funny to me..as a hair dresser this is one of the very very first things you learn haha...always make sure hair is completely saturated with water.

Thanks guys. I guess I'm the only one who didn't get it until now ;) I very happy though, I'm going to save so much money now that it finally works for me :)

Cutting hair wet is definitely the most common method. I've always had my hair cut by a hairdresser (I could never do it myself) & they always wet your hair before they cut it. I hadn't heard of cutting it dry until I came on here.. I think it would only work for really straight hair.

I tried cutting it dry but it did nt come out well. So I stopped self trimming and started to go to salon. Planning to try it wet once my hair is few more inches long.

Mine's cut dry when it's dirty and all the waves have all but vanished from the hair. Because it's thick, it's somehow easier to have it cut dry rather than wet. My mom says it's easier for her, anyway.
I'm so happy you discovered the right method for you, OP!

I've cut my sister's hair wet (she has straight, beautiful, super healthy hair) and it was very easy, but I find dry cutting makes the ends look more wispy/fluffy while the wet cut made her ends very blunt and 'cut' looking (and therefore more obvious if there were any mistakes).

I've only ever had my hair cut wet/damp at the hairdressers. I don't like it because with my already curly hair it shrinks even more. I cut dry hair but on a wash day so it's pretty greasy and lies straight enough.

My hair is very prone to splits when I cut it (I do use proper clippers) I always cut it dry; would cutting it wet make a cleaner line and prevent this or would it not matter? please and thank you for responses (i have a trim coming up on the 20 to remove the rest of the bleach)
My hair is the same as yours, prone to splits when I cut it. In my opinion I get a better cut when I do it wet and I found that my hair got less splits after cutting it wet also :)
