View Full Version : Inspirations?

I wondered if anyone else admired someone in the public realm in particular for their hair, and for keeping long hair out there in view.

For my money, model/ballerina Maria Mogsolova has beautiful hair, at what I'd guess to be at or just below BSL (trying very hard to know what I'm talking about here... :p). I suppose I should have a male inspiration, but sadly I can't bring to mind any phenomenally rich and successful males with long hair. Could be tiredness, however.

My very first hair inspiration was Olivia Hussey in the Franco Zefferelli version of Romeo and Juliet. It came out when I was a young teen and I fell in love with her hair. :crush:

Evan Rachel Wood from the movie Across the Universe. Though she is neither my hair type nor color, I saw what it was like for a girl to have her hair all one length and I have never in my life had that. I look forward to it :D Personally I don't even know if that was her real hair cos whne i google imaged her I couldn't find any long hair pictures :/

Wow, thanks for these responses :) Certainly good to know I'm not the only one to appreciate someone in particular for their hair.

Yulia Tymoshenko for for rocking my favourite hairstyle while in a strong political leadership role!

Mostly I find the hair here much more inspiring than most public figures though.

I love the hairstyles and makeup of retro actresses as well; it's so glamorous and elegant.

What a great attitude! Who better to inspire you than the very people who share your goals? Wonderful. :)

Not knowing who Danny Cecatti was I googles and came across this website. Oh my gosh did he have great hair - I might just have to change my opinion of men with long hair. Stereo type here and to much military hair influence I like my dh to have short hair - but then I don't see him co'ing or anything else. But drat him other than his hair dresser his hair has never seen a blow dryer!
Rambling again - I bounced all over this site some interesting reading.

The hair that has inspired me the most during this particular grow-out has been a longhair model that I saw in an older (Spring 07 maybe?) Gudrun Sjödén catalog. I don't know the name or anything, but she just has hair that is totally enviable to me... long, mermaid-ish, fairy-tail-ish... with bangs...

I actually kept a cut-out of this photo taped to the back of my bathroom cupboard door for a while when I was still having the urge to get cut back to a "cute" short cut. I still keep it folded up in a safe place to look at as inspiration. Without further ado:

I guess that I also like this model's hair as inspiration because though it is by no means "perfect"... it is nevertheless perfect in its imperfection, if ya' know what I mean.:)

Jane Seymour, Brooke Shields from the Blue Lagoon (even though it was a wig)

Wow! I googled another name on that page. Herman Li from dragonforce. I've heard dragonforce. Now I've looked at them. :cheese:

ETA: Are they members here? Check out the poses at the end of the video.

Keri Russell http://www.wallpaperbase.com/wallpapers/celebs/kerirussell/keri_russell_1.jpg was the first celebrity I ever saw with long stunning CURLY hair. I thought--maybe my hair could look that good long! Of course, Hollywood put an end to that!! She chopped it, then started wearing it straight or wavy-ish. It's a crime not to let those curls go free!
Maybe there were other long curlies, but I can't think of them off the top of my head

I grew up in the '70s and there were MANY hair idols then...with long, natural hair. Beautiful. I guess some of my TV Hair Icons at that time were Marcia AND Jan Brady, and Susan Partridge. A little bit later there was Valerie Bertinelli. They all inspired me because their hair wasn't "styled". I wasn't interested in fussing with my hair. Tragically, Dorothy Hamill inspired me too and I got a Hamill haircut for my freshman year in high school!

Jane Seymore for me as well. My mother was pretty addicted to that Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman show for awhile and I spent lots of nights as a child watching her hair, lol.

That said, I'd rather look at some of the really awesome hair here than look to a fairly short haired (by LHC) standards celebrity for inspiration.

I'm with you ole gray mare. Except for Dorothy Hamill. I never cut my hair that short. But I knew alot of people who did. It really was kinda cute.:)

Another vote for Jane Seymour here. Crystal Gayle too but I'm not sure I could really cope with floor length hair.

There is plenty of inspirational hair in movies, but sadly most of it is extensions. Certainly here in the UK it's very rare to find anyone with a high public profile who has remarkable hair in the truest sense.

Thinking of the chaps, maybe not so much for inspiration, but certainly for added attractiveness, Robert Plant's hair was gorgeous, as was John Sykes from Whitesnake. IMHO longer hair on the right man is just irresistable.

I really liked Liv Tyler's hair as Arwen in The Lord of the Rings - I also liked her real hair, but unfortunately she cut it...

I would definitely have to say Denise Richards. Don't like her show, but her hair is FABU!!!! Plus, it's all natural. Well, not the color, but she has ZERO extensions.

There have been many. The most recent inspirations have been Carole Bouquet in For Your Eyes Only (old movie, but watching it again a few months ago renewed my desire for long hair)
http://www.arthouse.ru/img/films/FROUGES/carole_bouquet_2-large.jpg

And the French actress Charlotte Gainsbourg (my hair is as long as hers now!)

One of my favorite long hair movies is Practical Magic. I love all of the hair in it although I am certain that much of it are extensions and/or wigs.

Patricia Morrison in Sisters of Mercy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyKCLnHK0mM

Tarja Turunen some years ago, now she looks quite boring and "normal"

Ooh yes Patricia Morrison - her hair looks even better here. It's an interview with her and there's some great clips of her on stage with The Damned with her hubby Dave Vanian.
