View Full Version : Bit the bullet and cut my hair...

My ends have been bothering me for a long time. My hair tapers quite a lot and the very ends were very thin. I have been fighting the urge to cut because I did not want to let go of my length. But yesterday I bit the bullet and had my mom cut my last layer out and straighten up my hemline a little. She cut about 2 1/2 - 3 inches. It wasn't really a lot of hair because my ends were so thin but it made a world of difference in how it looked...at least to me it did. :)
Will post pic later after my workout and if I can coerce my son to take one for me.

Btw: I also did my first beer rinse yesterday...awesome! Made my hair so shiny and more full. I did smell like a brewery for a little while but it was worth it. :p

I had quite a large trim the other day as well two inches.... Well it felt like a lot to me anyway! It does look and feel a lot healthier though.

About the beer rinse, is it like a protein treatment and an ACV rinse? I want to try it, what exactly did it do and what recipe did you use?

Everything you could possibly want to know about beer rinses is in this thread:

Holly - Here's a thread about beer rinse:
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=55808

All I did was pour it on my hair after shampooing, massage and let it sit for a few minutes, then rinse out with cool water. It made my hair very shiny, have more body (which as 1a, I have very little of), and seem brighter. Definitely, will be doing this again in the future.

Oh thanks! And thanks to everyone who posted the threads, I might just do this!

Can't wait to see pics! Glad you're happy with your decision :D . I love your signature, by the way! You can tell I'm a Whovian also by my "Location". Can't wait for the new season! :cheese:

I have done that cut several times, and I now have past classic hair.
It IS worth it, and love your luscious ends!

Sounds like you made the best decision possible for you! I admire your bravery, but I do think for what you want, it was very practical.

I just learned about "dustings" but for my hair it has sometimes not been enough. I think your choice is inspiring.

Ahhh, you can't upload to albums, as that's not been working. You can load to Photobucket or such, though, and then link here. :flower:

Awww...thanks everyone! I do feel better about my hair now and am glad I did it. It could probably need another inch or so cut but that was as far as I was willing to go at one time. I am going to wait until I see how my hair grows before I cut any more. :)
