Hello!
Today I really wanted to do something that I've been thinking about for a while now, and just this morning got up the guts to do it:
http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h214/fayeelizibeth/My%20Hair/5-19-12%20BANGS/IMG_2760.jpg
BANGS! (or fringe, whatever you want to call it)
I used this method: http://www.thevintagewife.com/2009/09/12/how-to-cut-your-own-bangs/
At the first snip of the scissors my heart caught in my throat; 'what am I doing?' I thought. But once I did that it was all-or-nothing and I got over my fear. I really like the result :D

Also, I made a successful sock bun:

Sock buns are hard for me for some reason, but I think I finally got it!

Later on today I think I'm going to do a beer rinse (there is some saved from my H and his brothers playing beer pong last night), and/or an SMT...SMT first and then beer rinse, I think makes most sense :)

Your fringe is very flattering!! I'm familiar with the heart in the throat feeling. I actually chickened out halfway when I decided to cut mine, ended up with layers instead :) Congrats on the beautiful cut!

I started and could hear the hair being cut (it's a very distinct sound shudder: ) but then when the first big part was cut, it was like "Can't go back now! Must finish or I will look like a fool with a tiny bit of short hair in the front!"

Thank you :) I am so happy it came out well :bounce:

I think the fringe looks lovely on you! I can't cut a straight line to save my life.

I haven't heard of a sock bun before coming here. My friends and I used to make "hair sausages" which I guess leads to the same result. you just sew a bit of wire in a cloth tube (which is longer on one side) then stuff it, scrunch it up and sew it shut. Then it's just as easy as wrapping it around your ponytail, and wrapping and tucking the ends. I'll have to check out how to do it with a sock though since it looks fuller.

A lot of the fullness comes from how loosely you wrap your hair, an how fluffy the sock was to begin with :p

But this "hair sausages", that would work too! I had not heard of that method...that may be even easier for me...

BUT!! oh, you reminded me about Harigami, which is a hair toy that's sorta like two slap bracelets covered in velour fabric...I used to have one...
*gets up from computer and tears apart hair-stuff basket looking for old hair toy*
FOUND IT! Thanks for reminding me of it, this thing is awesome :D I'm gonna go look for youtube vids of some things to do with it now...

The bangs look so even and perfect. They suit you well. So does the sock bun. :) I totally understand what you had gone through. I was nearly in tears when I gave myself bangs.

You are rocking your fringe/bangs! I think you did a great sock bun-you should see mine. I have no idea how I get curls from mine because mine is pretty messy:D

Very flattering! I don't think I would have the courage to do bangs, especially at home! They look great on you!:)

I love them! Of course, I'm biased-I have the same! So well done too. I'm too chicken to do 'em myself.
