Someone here said her hair became straighter as a consequence of CO, while some curlies say their curls actually show better that way.
Has CO affected your hair type in some way?

My hair is less fly-away and easier to control, less frizz and gives much better definition to curls

I've actually noticed both (because my head apparently supports multiple hair types at the same time) with CO - the curly bits of my hair get even curlier, the straighter bits get a little bit straighter. For me the effect is more pronounced on the curls, although my curliest areas are sound my face so maybe I just notice that most.

CO gives my wavy hair spirals if i don't brush it out when its dry. They only hang around until i move to much though lol. my short hair now is straight no matter what i do.

Less frizz, more definition, and a whole lot more softness. I also notice my hair doesn't dry out as easily when I'm on a 100% CO routine. :)

Not more curls, but better curls...more clumped, less frizzy.

My hair is curlier when I'm doing CO, but some of that is also technique of what I do with my hair after I wash it (curly-girl method). But yes, CO washing seems to give my curls more oomph and help keep the frizz down.

Both.

I'm a 1c. If I use a conditioner wash routine and I handle my hair like a 1a, my hair looks like 1a. Glossy, super straight, super slippery, the works. It'll even fake the signature 1a tangling where the hair looks untangled and in fact is a rat's nest.

If I use a more curly girl style routine with scrunching and product, my waves will show for a little after I wash. Maybe 2-3 hours. It's a very subtle wave pattern, and a lot of people would at most describe it as "beachy" waves. They'll run away and hide at the first opportunity tho.

Either way, I like the results, but CWC gives equally good results with a lot less conditioner used.

It turned frizz into more defined waves, for me, but my hair is extremely malleable and adopts whatever texture that last way I put it up creates. I'm only a true 2b right after my hair dries after washing it, before it's combed.

Could you elaborate? Sometimes I'd like my hair to look more of a 1a, but I'm not sure how I should handle it after the wash, to that end.

It depends which conditioner I use. If I use a lighter conditioner my waves are more defined but my hair is also dryer. This also happens if I use a dilluted conditioner (sometimes I just pour some dilluted no-cone conditioner on my hair, massage a bit, rinse and leave it at that). If I use a richer conditioner then my hair gets straighter but it's also more silky and shiny.

I "became" a slightly wavy after being stick straight for 26 years when I started using CO. Now right after washing I'm a 1c or even 2a, when before I thought I was 1a. However if (read. when) I comb or brush my hair when it's dry, my hair goes to about 1b/1c.

So yes it does define my waves better but then again my conditioners are quite light. I can imagine some with heavier conditioners may see straightening effects as I see if I over oil my hair or if (or rather when) I am not successful in washing off a heavy oiling treatment.
