Hey everyone, I've noticed that my hair tends to slow it's growth at around tailbone length. No matter how much I stop trimming, my hair just stops growing completely at tailbone. At what length does your hair "flatline?"

The official term for this is 'terminal length.' :)

Mine seems to stop at BSL (or at least I have never had it get longer than BSL without thinning drastically) so you can at least be glad your hair actually does get long. :)

From what I understand (and I have not found a thread on short terminal lengths) when your hair starts tapering (getting thinner on the ends, 'fairytaling' or getting fairytale ends) it is approaching the maximum length it is capable of growing, that is, terminal length.

It hasn't yet. It does, however, get to the point of splitting so much that my ends are like Velcro, so I keep cutting it back. Darn!

Agreed. If the growth completely stops for a year. You may have hit your terminal length.

It's hard for me to tell if my hair has actually stopped growing at about classic (as I have *some few* hairs that reach well below that) or if there is splits-breakage or S&D stuff going on. But my hair in general has not become longer in the last 3 years.
