Non drying/damaging alt to hairspray?

Sometimes for some styles, I just really wanna use it, but I don't wanna hurt my hair LOL

Sometimes I use aloe vera gel but it's not as good as hairspray. I'll be watching this thread.

I've heard sugar water is sometimes used as an alt to hairspray with good results.
