What can I do with collarbone length hair?

My hair is just below my collarbone with some close layers and I usually just put it up in a ponytail or a bun(like a quick messy bun) or a braid but doesn't quite work. So what do you suggest for me to do, I would like to know what kinds of styles i can put it in, please if you can put instructions with it, thank you!!

A peacock twist with a claw clip or flexi8; something like that.

Lace braids down the sides of your head, that end in a single ponytail, or, if your hair is too short to do that (from the sound of it, it's long enough, though), that are individually tied off. Simple, pretty look.

Gibson tuck would look nice. I have the same length and I do the claw clip and flexi8 like lapushka was saying. I have just learned how to do a fork and stick, but I have to redo my updos sometimes because it starts getting loose, maybe because it's not long enough yet.

I have used a sock bun, but have to use a little bun hairnet because some hairs are too short. Maybe you can try a sock bun pretty soon.

I did two laced dutch braids on the sides (as someone suggested) and pinned them in the back so that it was half a crown. If you're at collar bone it should be just long enough to do this :) I promise it looks prettier than the pictures I took. Sort of boho

Look on YouTube for "bohemian" or "boho" hair style/tutorial. There are some lovely ones for your length. My favorite one was taken down:( I'd remake it but my hair is too long.

Hi there, having shorter hair really is challenging, especially if it's layered or fine - I used to think there are not may options, but seeing the girls replies above made me change my mind! :)) Whoo!! Love the link HumanBean posted, lots of things to explore there!

Maybe this will help a little also:
Usually, I wear my hair in a Japanese messy bun at the top of my head and stick a bow to add visual interest and compensate for the lack of volume ( something like this: http://i.ytimg.com/vi/S1LSthbJrjk/0.jpg) . If I want to go for a more romantic look I do it off to one side and pin a flower in place (http://makeupandbeauty.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Sixth21.jpg).
Another thing that I do and think it looks cute is a side braid that I make thicker by gently pulling out on the bumps, or a side pony tied with a silk scarf (http://moodboard.typepad.com/.a/6a00d83539e9ed69e201538ee0f2de970b-600wi). More ideas with scarfs here:

I loved to play with head bands and little claw clips.

I changed my part sometimes and would twist 1/2 - 1 inch sections from my forehead / temple to my ears just to get it out of my face. I guess it was a hit since that was one of the rare times that I actually received hair style compliments.

Have you tried scarves / bandannas, etc.? They're a lot of fun!
